Girl’s Day In – Finger Foodie Party!

by Sandy on October 19, 2009

It was a fun Fall day when my friend Jeannie and I put our heads together and planned an easy finger-food party for Abby and a few of her friends.
Our goal: simple and … are you ready for this? We wanted no forks, and we wanted to use paper towels!

With no plans, other than what food we’d serve, when I arrived at Jeannie’s, we went through her tablecloth selection.
Deciding on this pattern.
And then we got creative with the paper napkins.
And set a pretty table, with beautiful fall mums.
As the girls dug in – and devoured it all, of course we had to keep ripping off paper towels to wipe those messy hands!
And then these delicious treats (made by Abby!)
Where paper towels definitely were handy, with juicy strawberries.
It was funny, we talked a lot about food, and how we loved the little pizzas and sausage rolls, and the popcorn chicken (my daughter’s request), and we had dipping sauces, too.
I just love how the simple things in life, like sitting around a table with friends and eating finger foods, brings comfort to all.
When our tummies are full, life just feels right.
Especially when good friends are around!
Would you share a recent experience where it just felt “right” in the midst of food and great friends?

We love "meals" that are only finger foods!!! What a great idea. Just last night, I was trying to find something that "sounded good" to my daughter….sometimes that's rather difficult….so I mixed up a tub of whipped cream cheese, a can of salmon, and some dill weed…..served it with grapes and tricuits……yuMMo!!! ;)

I LOVE finger-food! I threw an impromptu, last-minute "Fabulous Finger-Food Feast" right before Christmas last year and it was a hit ~ I've decided it's going to be an annual tradition. We so seldom have appetizers that it's a great treat for everyone ~ even the men! (though they won't admit it!!)

That looks like a fun time! :) Recently we had a "ladies game night" at my friend Kim's house, it was fun to meet a couple of new friends and laugh!

This sounds like so much fun! And something those tweens-teens would really enjoy. Great idea for a slumber party menu!

One of my friends and I have a bible study, just the two of us, every Thursday afternoon. Last Thursday, I made shrimp salad and invited her to my house. I have no furniture right now and hate inviting people over. We sat at the table the entire time, ate shrimp salad and talked. It was so casual and so comfortable.

Looks and sounds like FUN, Sandy!

We got together with a gang of friends after church yesterday…not in anyone's home, but at a mom & pop Italian restaurant. While we love having people over, Sunday after church we often dine out. It was good, cheap and best of all, so much fun breaking bread with our friends.

Hugs to you, my friend!

How totally fun!! What a great idea!! I think anytime friends and food are involved is a good time. Last night we had a youth leaders meeting. I served hot chocolate, apple juice, mini brownies (made in mini muffin pan).Texas Caviar with yummy whole grain chips. We sat around eating and enjoying conversation!!

What fun! These types of food are my favorite at a party.

Viva towels are my favorite – love them.

I love this idea-yummy and so easy!

Recently I've had lots of "just right" feelings when we host a bi-monthly staff meeting at our home. The church staff comes over, after our kids get to bed-we just usually have coffee and a treat then get down to business-but because these folks are such great friends we have an amazing "just right" time.

I'll bet the girls really enjoyed being casual and getting their hands in the food. Your daughter did a beautiful job with those strawberries.
