My sister and I lived together through college and a few years after, until I got married. We made cupcakes often, with PINK forsting. We would each have 2 (or 3!) when we made them. And would each take some to our respective offices to share, because, you know, we should not eat 24 cupcakes between the two of us. But we would always end up emailing each other around 10 a.m. to say we’d eaten 2 or 3 ourselves, and not sure how many were actually going to be “shared.” To this day, we love PINK cupcakes and it is such a fond memory of the special time we got to live together.

Easy. My two children are born on the same day, two years apart. Once they were both in school started school, their birthday(s) was a mad dash between two buildings. After the first year I decided to go to the fancy bakery and order 40-odd cupcakes to feed the two classes. I was working full time and just couldn’t wrap my brain around it. Fast forward 2 years and I decided to bake them on my own. The kids helped, we used food coloring to dye the cupcakes green, and made about the tastiest frosting you’ve ever had.

Not surprisingly I never hear a word about the fancy bakery cupcakes, but just the other day I overheard my daughter telling a friend about the “awesome green cupcakes her Mom made for her.”

Well, I’m on Weight Watchers to lose the last of my baby weight from my 4-month old son, so my recent happiest memory of a cupcake came when I found a recipe for 2-point cupcakes. All you do is take a box of cake mix and mix it with a can of diet coke! Not a sentimental memory, but a happy one all the same. ;)

My granddaughter was born two months early at 2#6 oz. and miraculously healthy. After 5 weeks in the NICU she came home and everyone was ready to celebrate the miracle of baby Emolyn with a huge baby shower. Emolyn couldn’t be in public yet… but what a shower! I made a hundred ‘baby cakes’ (mini cupcakes) and they were as cute as can be!

Well when I see the word cupcake what I immediately think of has nothing to do with food at all. I think of my 1 year old niece who lives on the other side of the country and who I’ve only met once. My nickname for before she was even born is cupcake. She is my little cupcake and I think she is just as delicious as any cupcake is to eat :)

adorable necklace!

cupcakes always make me think of 3rd grade (49 yrs. ago!). i volunteered to make 30 cupcakes for our teacher’s birthday, forgetting that my mom didn’t drive & not realizing that you couldn’t take that many cupcakes on the city bus. mom was not happy but let me do it & then she had to find someone to take me to school that day. (it was my first lesson in asking permission before volunteering.)

That is a cute necklace! I love the cupcakes with the confetti dots inside with confetti icing on top! yum! My favorite cupcake memory is from Halloween when we made cupcakes with witches on them (sugar cones for hats)!

My favourite cupcake memory is baking them with my two girls and letting them decorate them. I’m sure they get a sugar rush just from all the decorations they have to put on. We still make them for every celebration – they are so much more fun than a big cake.

Thanks!

I pretty much live and dream cupcakes certain weeks!(in between painting furniture and blogging!) I used to do cakes, and wedding cakes in particular, but once I discovered all of the magic I could create on top of a little cupcake, I was I knew I had found true love.

Cupcakes just bring childhood back. I see a cupcake and think of wonderful memories of being a kid. The memory that comes to mind the most, is when I was in school and my Mom brought cupcakes for a Christmas party. My birthday is near Christmas so I never had an opportunity to have a party at school. So my mom brought cupcakes for Christmas, in my mind it was just for me.
Wow, so much from a delicious little treat.

Thank You,
Wendy

How cute! I work in a Kindergarten room and cupcakes seem to be the treat for birthdays. The kids love to hand them out and with the leftovers, they love to give them out to office staff and favorite teachers. They are always presented with huge smiles as we fuss over their birthdays! Would love to win the necklace!

This is an easy one!!! My daughter was married on May 23rd of this year in our backyard. She did not want your standard wedding cake…she wanted a cupcake wedding cake. It turned out too cute!! We made a cake stand by covering styrofoam tiers with moss and then attached tiny pearl centered blue flowers and butterflies sporadically around. I made a “bird” bride and “bird” groom topper complete with vail and top hat. I will never look at cupcakes again without thinking of one of the best days of mine and my daughters lives. I would love to give her the cupcake for a Christmas gift.

I was so excited when my oldest child went to kindergarten! I became the class mom, volunteered at field trips and spent many hours at school helping cut, paste, file and xerox. I got to know my daughter’s classmates quite well! When her birthday came around, she and I wanted to bring in something special to mark the occasion! I had intended to buy 2 dozen Krispy Kreame donuts to share, but the price dissuaded me, so I made cupcakes! I am so glad I did, because the kids ohhed and awed over them and her sweet teacher, I remember, was so appreciative of the forced “break” from the busy day. Since then, I’ve probably made dozens of cupcakes to mark my children’s school celebrations, and have experimented with different flavors and frostings (Do not send chocolate cake to school!). Today I look back fondly on the days when my children were young and loved the novelty of eating cake at school. I hope they have happy memories of their special celebrations, too!

I have only been to NY City once, when my oldest daughter was 18 months old. We had friends living in the village at the time – so much fun. They didn’t have kids but wanted to accomodate our little one, our first stop was Magnolia’s for a fresh cupcake. It was before the trend was big but the line for cupcakes was long and worth it. Best cupcakes ever! Everyone, adults included, indulged happily. (Still wish I had gone back more one more.) Cute charm! Love it.

I made some super scraggly cupcakes a couple of weeks ago for my daughter’s 4th birthday — grainy frosting included, which I desperately tried to cover with sprinkles. I felt like a loser until she came out and saw them and said “this is the best birthday cake ever, Mommy!”

A friend recently told me about her college-age daughter telling her she was baking cupcakes for a sorority function. Mom told daughter to buy a boxed cake mix and canned frosting. Daughter said, “I know I’ll do that, I just need to know how you get them in those little wrappers!” Mom decided she didn’t make many cupcakes when her daughter was growing up. Too cute!

The office where I work has a glass door and this guy would always walk by and make silly faces to make me laugh. One day he actually came in and brought a bigbox of cupcakes for me and my coworkers. Super sweet random act of kindness! And goooood cupcakes!

I have a fond memory of a favourite neighbour making cupcakes and the sweet smell of baking and vanilla and also being in her kitchen on a very sunny afternoon.
Funny, but whenever I smell vanilla, I always think of that bright, sweet smelling kitchen. So comforting.

Oh cupcakes…perfectly portioned piece of heaven! I LOVE, LOVE cupcakes so much that I don’t do a birthday without them! My daughter’s first birthday was a giant cupcake (cake form). That was hers, and the guests got as cute of cupcakes, just smaller. Easiest way to share the joy at a birthday :)

Cupcakes are always a delight. Just a perfect little frosted morsel waiting to be eaten! My favorite cupcake story is when I made my own version of Hostess cupcakes for my friend’s birthday. I even glazed them and put the little white squiggles on top. They were amazing… Better than store-bought!

We served cupcakes at my daughter’s first birthday party because the cousins had all gotten into the habit of blowing out the candles at birthday parties… it was the smartest decision ever. It was flu season, so instead of having a dozen kids blow (spit) on a big cake, they all blew out their own candles.

My mom didn’t like to cook, and liked to bake even less, but one year she made me a homemade birthday cake in the shape of a turtle. The feet and head were made of cupcakes and I claimed the head for myself, letting my birthday guests have the rest of the poor turtle.

Every year on the first day of school I make cupcakes in ice cream cones and then frost them and roll them in sprinkles. They are a special treat for my kiddos on that very sad first day back at school each year.

I help and volunteer with homeless families in Los Angeles, CA. I am hoping to win this beautiful necklace from Tiffany’s not for myself, but for an equally beautiful young teenage girl, named Vanessa. She lives with her mother and two sisters in one room in a homeless program. Together they are rebuilding their lives after some very hard times. This would be an amazing gift for her.
As far as a “cupcake story”. The one that comes to mind was years ago when my son was in first grade. (he is in college now) As I was tucking him into bed he said, “Mom, I have to bring cupcakes to school tomorrow” I guess I could have just bought some at the store in the morning, but he really wanted me to make them. So, I went to the store and then stayed up very late… baking cupcakes for my son’s first grade class. :)

I love the Target pan! The first time I saw a cupcake cake was two years ago, at the one year birthday celebration of my granddaughter who had gone through heart surgery. What a fabulous idea because anybody can frost a cupcake, and the cute stackers they make really dress them up the presentation. I read just a few days ago that cupcakes are the new wedding cake!

I am a cupcake lover from waaaayy back. I think they are the best snack in the world. Think about it, it’s a cake, just for you. You don’t have to share it (if you don’t want to) and they never fail to make you happy. My favorite cupcake memory is when my son was about 3. I had made a batch up and he snuck one behind his back. I still remember his face when I asked him if he took one and slowly took it out from behind him. His face was priceless. I even snapped a pic which is on my fridge to this day and he’s now 13.

My favorite cupcake memory would have to be the making on my daughter’s birthday cake when she was turning 4. She wanted a mermaid cake. So we used regular cake cut in various ways to make the face, body, and tail and then used cupcakes for her hair. I’ll never forget how excited she was when the whole cake was put together. The cupcakes were the most popular part of the cake with the kids!
