It’s a Good Day!

We ought to give thanks for all fortune: if it is “good,” because is it good, if “bad” because it works in us patience, humility, and the contempt of this world and the hope of our eternal country. ~ C. S. Lewis

When life is hard, it can be difficult to lift our thanks up to God. Yet when we lose our ability to be grateful (relationships, sadness, loss, suffering), we double our loss. Whatever the situation, whether we’re cooking the bird, taking pies or side dishes or salads, or heading out to a restaurant with family or friends, Thanksgiving Day is more than the feast. God’s desire is for us is to be deeply involved in each other’s lives … hard times and all.

That is what I love about This Good Day. It goes deeper, beyond the picture …

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, to my family and friends!

Well put, Miz Sandy! I hate how Thanxgiving has sort of faded in recent years, pushed into the shadows by the super-bargain early Christmas shopping and all. Maybe this year we can spend more time considering how much we truly do have to be thankful for! :o )

So teue sandy!! Our hearts can always have an attitude of thanks and joy despite our circumstances because those things don’t define me, I can choose to shine through them!

I stayed home with my three-year-old while my husband and one-year-old joined the family festivities. I was feeling sorry for myself while I took care of my sick little boy. We were watching the food network – every show discussed what to do with Thanksgiving leftovers. Out of nowhere my sick son says, “Mommy, what are you thankful for?”

It was a God-incident. I loved the opportunity to tell him how thankful I was for this life. I realized how blessed I was. Thank you for a post that represents what the holiday really should signify.
