Sticky-Finger Dinner!

by Sandy on November 5, 2009

Last night was memorable. I told our family we were having a “no utensil dinner!” What were they going to say? No, Mom, we’re not eating? Not my family!

How could you pass up this chicken?

1 sticky chix

Corn on the cob? (A pinch of sugar, boil for 5 minutes, and serve!)

1 sticky corn

And delicious bread? (Costco comes through once again!)

Since we’re still in the last stages of our kitchen remodel, I pushed 2 tables together, set them, and added paper towels.

It didn’t bother anyone that we had sticky fingers!

1 sticky abby corn

And we ended the night with great discussion around our imperfect kitchen table. You see, what happened was more than the eating of good food. It was the “talk” and the laughter and the fun that took place. At times I wish we had a hidden recorder under the table, to preserve the talks that take place.

I love family. And I’m trying to cherish each and every opportunity that we have together, many times around food.

No utensils and sticky fingers? No problem!

How did I miss that you moved? I was just thinking, Sandy hasn’t posted anything for a while… then I looked and you moved. Fantastic new site. Love that you are now just the reluctant entertainer.

Quick questions. 1. Why did you move. 2. How hard was it to move from blogger to WP?

Now I am off to catch up with all your posts.

Is it weird that I’m hungry for chicken and sweet corn at this time of the morning? :-) Looks yummy and sounds like wonderful memories were made. Have a great day!

It’s every evening – one of those nights! Sticky fingers, no utensils… according to our two year old.

Can’t wait for those evenings of just talking, around the table, after dinner…with our kids… because they can fully engage back in word and thought. Good times a coming…

You have just described my favorite kind of meal.
Laughter, good talks, good food, good times. Love it. I’m still sooooo anxious to see your kitchen. : )
