Relaxation and family time are key for us during the holidays.
I’ve rushed around way too much in earlier years. And I will admit, it gets easier as our kids grow up and become adults. I think all of our perspectives change as we admit to commercialism, over-indulging (food and gifts), and it no longer feels right.
This last weekend, I am thankful for the simple things.
Little family members.

Snowmen.

Tickle belly.

Good food.

DIY simple table.

Little wonder boy.

Lovely niece (oh, and nephew).

Great family. Period.
I. Am. Thankful.
Thanksgiving is the best holiday to start the “holidays” off with. The focus for me is to stay away from the mad rush.
I love the gift of looking back, and the reminder of what’s ahead.
Are you looking forward to a simple Christmas holiday season like I am?
(A peek back at last year’s Thanksgiving, here. And the year before, here. And come back on Monday for a HUGE Kraft Foods Giveaway!)

I am looking forward to simple! Spent today decorating, listening to Christmas music and then watching two Eloise movies with Nan!! Lookin forward to our upcoming vacation!!
Now if it will snow when we get home from vacation I’d be utterly happy!

Love it Sandy. I am putting up a few extra decorations this year because I plan to stay home more to enjoy them and each other!
Mark and I just talked about how much life will be changing with our family in the next few years with the kids being older and in new relationships that take them to other homes
We are determined to enjoy every moment and embrace the “new” that comes along too.

I am definitely having a simple Christmas this year.
It looks like you had a wonderful Thanksgiving.

I notice there are no serving dishes on your table. I always have to remove the centrepiece to make room for the bowls and platters. Do you serve your Thanksgiving meal buffet style, so everyone chooses what they want? Or do you serve already full plates? Thanksgiving is long gone here in Canada, but it’s not too early to look for good ideas for my Christmas table!

Hi Leslie, Yes! Buffet style!
Easy and low-stress, especially being away from home and trying to keep it simple.

Lovely! I am looking forward to a simple holiday season too. Our family has reduced gift giving tremendously and now focus on being together, having great food and laughter and remembering the reason for the season.

I am looking forward to the holidays. We’re cutting back this year.
My sister is coming from Louisiana with her family. We’ll go skiing. I can’t wait.

Last year was dreadfully busy… so this year I had already purposed to take it easy and focus on fun things with my family – decorating, baking, relaxing and having fun.
Now that my last day working is Dec. 17 (I was laid off), that should be easy to accomplish!

Hi Sandy! Thanks for stopping by today. Glad you had a good Thanksgiving. We did too (busy but good). I’m blessed with families on both sides who like low-key holidays so that’s a blessing – looking forward to Christmas!
