Omelettes in a Bag on Christmas Morn!

My friend Cindy, who’s a Hostess with the Mostess, sent me this great idea that they use when they go camping. It’s a perfect Christmas Morning breakfast idea that includes the whole family and stimulates great conversation! We tried it a few Sunday’s ago mingling together in the kitchen, waiting for our omelet’s to finish cooking.

Omelette in a Bag

INGREDIENTS
Eggs (2 per person)
Omelet toppings

Plan ahead by having your ingredients chopped and prepared, ready to place out on the counter. And also, be ready to have some fun with your family!

Omelette in a Bag

OMELET in a BAG
Write names with permanent marker on a quart-size Ziploc freezer bag.

Crack 2 eggs (large or extra-large) into the bag (not more than 2) and shake to combine.

Set out your chopped/prepared ingredients such as: cheeses, ham, onion, green pepper, tomato, hash browns, salsa, etc.

Omelette in Bag

Add the ingredients of choice to each bag and shake. Make sure to get the air out of the bag and zip it up.

Place the bags into rolling, boiling water for exactly 13 minutes. (Up to 6-8 omelets in a large pot).

Omelette in a Bag

Open the bags and the omelets will roll out easily onto each plate. Serve with some fruit and my tasty Cranberry Lemon Pull-Aparts!

As everyone huddles around in the kitchen together, we can enjoy the gift of family and food.

Family and Christmas. Comfort and Giving. Blessings and Jesus.

What’s going to be cooking in your kitchen on Christmas Morn?

I usually make a sausage and egg “casserole” and cinnamon buns, but I think you’ve changed my mind!! This looks like fun and for the casserole I have to make each end different for different “likes”. With this, everybody’s happy! Thanks and have a very merry Christmas!

To please my dear hubby, I will make his favorite cherry cheese coffee cake. YUM! As my children get older I may have to make two, it is gone before you know it!

I love Christmas morning breakfast in our house!!! I prepare Baked French Toast and Sausage & Egg Casserole along with fresh fruit and hot coffee or spiced tea. Both “casseroles” can be prepared the night before and just popped into the oven that morning. No fuss at all…..and I love that the house is filled with the smells of saugsage and cinnamon on Christmas morning!

Wow – what a clever idea! Love it Sandy!

A few years ago when we were establishing our own family traditions for Christmas we decided on a Christmas morning breakfast that remains the same. Not too heavy – so we can eat plenty for the rest of the day….we’ll be having warmed croissants, fresh tropical fruit salad and special yoghurt (not your every day brands).

I am a huge fan of omelets in a bag, they are easy and very light. Almost soufflé like xoxoxo Clarice

  7. We have an egg/hashbrown bake on Christmas morning and (of course) cinnamon rolls. This is an awesome idea– especially for someone (like me) who always messes up omelettes!

I would think the bags might melt in the boiling water. That’s not a problem?

We normally have stuffed french toast, fresh fruit salad and baked ham. Since it’s only going to be the 2 of us now, I thought I would make your cranberry-lemon pullapart {1/2 recipe} and a big pot of coffee. We see family and go to church on Christmas Eve so Christmas will be a p.j. day for us – catching up on reading, listening to music, maybe a nap and watching a DVD.

Omelets in a bag is our camping faire.

For Christmas Morning we will have pecan rolls, that are oven ready the night before–and a crustless quiche—also oven ready the night before. It will be a too short morning this year as our daughter and son hit I-5 by 9am for PDX. But the whole family will have had a whole week together—I couldn’t feel more blessed!

We do homemade cinnamon rolls with cinnabon like frosting
