Hip Hostess

Perfect, just in time for your Christmas shopping, Hip Hostess has a beautiful variety of aprons on her site, and this week, Debbie is giving away one Melon Splash Demi Style Apron!

Yes, you could be the winner of an apron, exactly like the one I’m wearing here!

Sandy in kitchen

But let me start with this. When Mary from Giving up on Perfect asked her readers, how do you define home? I couldn’t help but comment.

There are so many answers to give. Home is a resting place, a place of safety (hopefully), it’s where we get our tummies filled up and we let our hair down. My home is often messy, full of kids and laughter, and tons of noises like barking dogs and most recently power tools! It’s also not a perfect home–just ask our neighbors when they hear us yelling! Like, come on, get in the car! We’re leaving for soccer! Get your violin done! Whose turn to do the dishes? Pick up your socks! Pick up the towels! The list goes on and on.

On a more serious note though, my answer to Mary was this:

Home is where you learn to be yourself, to be real, and for my family – it’s a place where courage is bolstered.

It’s where we talk around our table about life, and we go deep. There is no untouchable subject in our home. Since the kids’ dad wrote a powerful curriculum, a faith-based response to bullying – we talk about all the cool things happening with this ministry, and how it compares to our kids’ experiences, we learn to encourage one another, which bolsters our faith. It encourages us to make a stand in life. To stand up for what is right. It helps us think of how we can give to and love others. It’s an important kind of bolstering – a kind that is required by all. And it happens at home.

ANSWER TO WIN!

Home is a sanctuary that my family can come to when the outside world is cold and unforgiving. I hope they step into our home and feel security, love, warmth, and grace. I pray “home” for them will become memories and traditions; reminders of comfort and peace where ever the Lord may take them.

That apron is too cute!

Home is where I can put my slippers on and I don’t have to worry about if my hair’s out of place… My home is not perfect but it has all the things I love in it, most of the time! ;-)
Sandy, YOU are too cute in that apron! Is that your {gasp} new kitchen???

Home to me is an ever-evolving story — the best external witness to what’s happening to us inside. I’ve been on a kick to transform my old story (clutter, unrest, busy-ness) to a new one of rest, creating a peaceful haven, and making time for important things, both small and large. With a new baby and 2 other small ones, it’s the best thing I’ve done for my family so far.

Home is the warm and comfortable place I sleep every night and rise every morning. Home is the place I laugh and love the most! I know its corny, but so true – Home is where my heart is — its where my true loves reside (LL and my bub, Claire too)!

Great question!

Home is where my family and I find sanctuary from the outside world. We find shelter and warmth here. There is a feeling of security in knowing that there is always a place we can go where there is constant love. While our home here on earth is only temporary, it is a reflection of the complete peace and comfort we will find in our eternal home.

Lovely giveaway! I love rick-rack :) .

Home is my favorite place to be, I just bought my first house this year and have enjoyed making it my own. There is nothing like walking in your front door and knowing you are were you are suppose to be.

To me home is where you can finally relax, sleep, eat weird stuff, laugh, cry and basically be yourself with your favorite, most loyal people in the world. That would be family. :)

Home is where we are together as a family. It doesn’t even matter if we’re in our house–if we’re together that’s really enough. But the house does add an element of relaxation, and of ministry. Home is us! The house is just where we live and have fun and minister.

Home is: the place where I’m happiest, with candles lit on the mantle, bread baking in the oven, and the people I love cuddled next to me. It’s safe, happy and full of love.

I love this, for us home is where comfort happens. It’s where we can be real, be us and learn who are in life-in relation to God first and then others. It’s a place we can make mistakes, and learn from them. It’s a place of belonging and growing. Wow, it’s so much to us, thanks for a few moments to reflect!

Wow….good one! Hmmm…home to me is a sanctuary away from the hussle and bussle of the world. A place where (my hope is that) our children will always always ALWAYS feel safe, secure, and loved. A place for laughing, crying, and being yourself. A place where we are ALL learning and a place where we are striving to put God first every day.

Yep…I think that sums it up.

By the way…love the handles on your kitchen cabinets…we have the exact same ones (great minds think alike)!!!

Take Care!

Home is:
Where I can wear my favorite tshirt and be comfortable.
Where I can share an advent devotional with the man I love the most and struggle with faith together.
Where my puppy rules.
Where I can be myself and become a better version of myself.
Where I am loved.

Well, here on earth home is wherever my family is. But if you’re a believer, our eternal home is ultimately in heaven which is something I don’t think about often enough. So, thanks for reminding me!

Home is a haven where you can be you. Where your children feel love and caring. Home is where your family can laugh together, cry together, and pray together. It might not be clean all the time, but home is where you hang your heart each day (I know that someone else coined that phrase, but it was perfect!)

Sandy, thanks for visitng my blog last week. Yours alwsy inspires me! Thanks also for the cute give-away!

Hugs!

Home is love…it is the place we live with the people who really know who I am. I fluff and feather and try to keep it a happy and healthy place. It is where you come to at the end of the day, and you know that is where you belong. Like Dorothy said… there is no place like it.

Home…

Home is where you can walk in the door and instantly feel surrounded by peace, love, and a sense of belonging. It is wear I can kick off my shoes, put up my feet, look around, and marvel at God’s amazing provisions, both the physical and the spiritual. It is where my children feel most comfortable, nestled in a place where they are loved unconditionally and taught how to live a God-centered life. It is where people can come and expect to feel that same love, warmth, and acceptance, no matter who they are.

Home is where we are together as a family. We just moved from our first home that we built together and I was so sad because we were leaving our “home.” We moved into a small rental until our new house is built. Our rental is now HOME. We are together and our things and each other has made this house OUR HOME.

Love the apron. Hope I win!

I have asked myself that question a lot in the last year or two! We have moved several times and so I naturally wonder those things. But I have come to the conclusion that Home is where my family can gather and where love abounds. There is a freedom to share our hearts and sometimes our hurts. We can be real. Thanks for asking! The apron is so cute and wearing one would make me feel “at home”!

What is home? I can honestly say that I’ve had a home or a place that truly felt like home in the past ten years when I got married. Unlike my childhood home, this home feels like it. A home is place where you truly feel safe and never had to worry about being hurt. A home is a place where you fit in and don’t worry about being bullied, teased or feeling self-conscience of yourself. I home is where you are surrounded by people who love you and you love them in return. A home is where you want to go home to at the end of a terrible or happy day. This is what I have and I am grateful for it!

I would love to win the apron. I’m just starting to entertain in my new house (we moved recently) and this would help. At least it would help me feel more like a classy hostess.

Home is where I can be myself and be loved anyway, home is where we can shut out the world and devote time to each other. Home is where memories and traditions are made. Home is a place to come home to. Home is a place to be settled (I moved 23 times before getting married), a place where you love the ordinary, everyday things. Home is a place where I feel safe and secure, a place where love abides, courage grows, respect is learned, and a gathering place for family and friends.

I suffer from depression, so a lot of my life is spent at home, secluded and alone, but this year I’m feeling good, so I’m planning some entertaining for the first time in years, I’m so excited and a new apron would be wonderful! Thanks for the chance to win.
