After dropping my daughter off at church a few weeks ago, for a long ski weekend, I stopped off at the grocery store. For $4 I was able to buy a small daffodil plant (just starting to bloom).
I took the bulbs and repotted them into my $2 celery glass vase (yard sale find last summer).
I also took these beauties and tied a ribbon around the stems, (inside of the vase).

Together these flowers really freshened up my kitchen window with liveliness and color (in January I’ll take all the liveliness that I can get!)
Whether in the kitchen window or on the counter top, I really enjoy moving flowers around to different areas of the house.
They’ve lasted for several weeks now!
Don’t forget you can repot flower bulbs from the grocery store right into your own glassware!
So when you don’t have the time to start your own bulbs, cheat and hit the grocery store!
Are you enjoying fresh flowers in your house right now?
(It looks like Richella wanted to brighten up her home a bit, with her grocery store find!)

Hi, I'm Sandy. Five years ago I stocked up on beautiful glasses from the Dollar Store. As I started writing about dinner parties, I realized that this “icon” portrays a great message.

I love bulbs. I have some that I planted outside and forgot about and they’ve come back year after year. Such a nice surprise in the spring!
Hugs
Kim

In the middle of a long, cold, snowy winter up here in the north country…this is just the thing to add a touch of fresh color to the house. Love the look, even more: love the price!

Great idea! I am ready for spring! There is nothing like fresh flowers to brighten up a room. I am going to get some today!

Thank you so much for the link! It really means a lot to me.
I love the way you put the bulbs in clear containers–a great idea! I’m always inspired by a visit to your house.

Nothing brightens up the house more than fresh flowers! I buy flowers from the grocery store often but have never repotted, thanks for the tip.

Sandy, YOU have inspired me! I’m having my dance mom friends & hubbies (OK, we’re not dance moms anymore, but were still best friends) up in a few weeks and have been trying to think of something fun for us to do. This is it! I’m going to buy terra cotta pots, let the girls go to it with paint and then plant some bulbs, and top with moss. They will each go home with a touch of Spring! Thank you my dear.
