2 Copies to Give Away: House of Havoc!

by Sandy on February 15, 2010

Marni Jameson’s new book, House of Havoc, has just been released! I’ve just received my own copy and I’m devouring it – laughing out loud as I read!

Marni is a nationally syndicated home columnist who writes with great humor and gives practical advice – always about the home. Really, she’s my kind of girl! (Actually, she’s even written about Reluctant Entertainer, Ease that party paranoia by letting go of perfect!)

Here’s a bit from the book …
Everyone knows when a house is out of control. The cupboards are a jumble. You can’t find a set of towels that match. Your living room looks like a daycare center. You need to decorate, or redecorate, but haven’t a clue where to start…

Yup. I can relate, Marni!

One chapter that really HIT ME (Help!) is chapter 9: Paper Control: File This Under File This

Story of my life. With 3 teens in the house, one going off to college, 2 drivers, sports, activities, taxes .. I could fill up our entire house with papers!

Marni’s quick tips go like this:
- Know your papers
- Create AAA filing system (active, at hand, archive)
- Remove and replace
- Thin it
- Trust technology
- Ask before you hoard
- Bust paper before it gets in

Of course you have to read the rest the chapter to get the actual TIPS and to pick up on her awesome SENSE OF HUMOR!

And here’s more that you will learn from this improvement guide:
- Accommodate a growing family (in a non-growing house)
- Clutter bust your office (in less than an hour)
- Uncover the six secrets to great design
- Know which family-, feline-, and Fido-friendly fabrics will make everyone feel at home
- Make sumptuous drapes (with glue gun) and add bling to your dining room (for under $10)

Now for the GIVEAWAY …

Two people will win a copy of the House of Havoc!

ugh… my kitchen! it is the catch all for everything. So discouraging when it’s decorated so cute too! we have little to no auseable storage and it seems as though I always leave things out just so I won’t have to wrestle them back intheir spot. totally need a makeover this summer :0

I need help with clutter, photos and filing. I keep meaning to take a week off to tackle it, but life keeps getting in the way (with 3 teens, a hubby, a dog and a job, it’s crazy around here!!!). Love your website; your book sounds great. Sandy.

Clutter, clutter and more clutter. 3 kids with toys that multiply overnight, 2 kids in school with all the papers to and fro, it’s everywhere. We are over stuffed!

Clutter – most of which, of course, belongs to my hubby. Pick me, pick me, pick me……I have seen the sun about 3 times since Thanksgiving Day (Alaska has been really yucky lately this winter). I need something to perk me up!

Hard to decide where to start. My first problem i the paper trail. I stink at this. I wont even go into details it would frighten you. And then I would say clutter – I used to be good at keeping it under control…until baby number 2…then all bets were off!

Ugh, clutter. I can get a handle on it for 3 or 4 days and then I turn my back and it’s a disaster again. I’m working on “everything has a home” and it helps…but there’s not enough space for all the stuff so the other struggle i battle is purging the stuff i don’t absolutely need and love. thanks for the chance to win the book!

Well, piles of paper and bound paper (books) and lesson plans (more paper). Working from home, home educating, and running a family sure makes it all add up! Thanks for the opportunity.

Probably late to the show, but I desperately need this book. Too much clutter. Don’t want to toss it, hubby doesn’t want to get rid of it, but I am happy to start passing it on to Goodwill. Just need LESS STUFF!!
