Model the Good for the Lonely!

Good for Lonely

Dear friend, when you extend hospitality to Christian brothers and sisters, even when they are strangers, you make the faith visible. (3 John, The Message)

We never know what small, random act of kindness will touch a life. This verse was part of my morning quiet time today, on this beautiful Valentine’s Day.

I was inspired to love today. Not just to get.

Today my daughter and her friend went from door to door delivering leftover chocolate cake from our dinner party last night.

Good for Lonely

Last night, a beautiful Valentine’s Day birthday dinner

Good for Lonely

Lovely hostess gift for me – an array of gorgeous flowers

Good for Lonely

Leftover delectable, rich chocolate cake

Good for Lonely

Lesson taught to our children: give your life away (Abby’s brothers observed what she was up to!)

Good for Lonely

Love demonstrated by wrapping up and sharing our leftovers – chocolate cake

Good for Lonely

Specific targets: the widows in our neighborhood.

Modeling goodness for the lonely – it’s what our world needs more of.

Wouldn’t you agree?

Happy Valentine’s Day!

I’m still up waiting for kaitlynn to get done bowling with her soccer team so I can go pick her up…I was so confused at first…”huh? it’s not valentines day.” Then I looked at my clock…oh yes it is!!! I’m so ready for bed. That cake looks yummy and what an awesome idea.

First I would love to have a piece of that cake! It looks wonderful.. Ok, with that aside… (LOL) what a wonderful, selfless gesture! We were created with a desire to serve, I think, so when we do, we are the ones most blessed. Thank you for sharing!

so I live in a coffee shop, where we feed kids off the street every day–you know what I forget? the people in my neighborhood. taking care of them should be just as important. Thanks for the reminder! ^_^

  13. I LOVE this post. What a simple thing to do that makes a HUGE impact. How you tied the flower to the cake was beautiful. Such a great way to set an example for our kiddos …. simple blessings!

This motivated me. I usually operate as though my gift has to be perfect before I can present it. It’s a hindrance. After reading your post, I spontaneously took some 3-day old heart-shaped brownies to a neighbor with cancer. Thanks for the reminder that love is share-worthy, whether it’s a well-crafted gift, or simply an “I thought of you” leftover dessert.
