I tried one of those steamers but our wood floors are the glue down type and I noticed the glue was coming up through the seams! My wood floors are not so bad but my stone tile floors in the kitchen are the bain of my existence! I hate them they are so hard to clean because of the pockets in the stone they just gather dirt and yuckiness! My husband loves them (although he doesn’t have to clean them) and it looks like I’m stuck with the hands and knees approach. It’s the only thing that works.

I have brick floors. I sweep and vaccuum only. They always look good- cant tell they are dirty at all. Love the brick floors. .-= Bobbie´s last blog .. =-.

I used to and still do sometimes use vinegar and water on my floors. Wood and cement! Now I usually just use a mop but get down on my hands and knees in my kitchen when something gets in the grooves of our stamped concrete.

we vacuum almost every day, never sweep. we use murphy’s oil soap & mop with old fashioned rag mop that wrings out to almost dry & we clean up any spills as quickly as possible.

also – we keep a basket by the front door & everyone knows to put their shoes in it.

Our friend took a long term consulting job in Los Angeles. The company he worked for put him in a high rise loft apartment. He loved it, except for the mass of dusty wood floors. So, he bought a romba and timed it to go off while he was at work. He would come home to clean floors every day after work. Now I want one! Except I would have mine go off at night so I would wake up to clean floors.

Mop, sweep, wash by hand in the yucky spots when I’m too lazy to mop. We’ve got a hairy dog so daily sweeping is a must! (Bummer!) My brother has a roomba, he calls it “Rosie” like Rosie the Robot from the Jetsons-I’d love a rosie!

One word. Norwex. LOVe their antibac microfiber cloths- No chemicals! Just discovered them about 4 months ago- think they're site is norwex.ca From Norway. I use their microfiber mop- kinda like a swiffer handle but only uses hot water and does a much better job on my laminate wood- no streaks too! .-= Jill´s last blog ..a great big hug =-.

I clean my kitchen floor by sweeping and the scrubbing on hands and knees! It’s hard work, but I like the results.

We have a Roomba at work. After about 2 months, it got confused and would sit in a corner, whirring but not moving. Sometimes it doesn’t pick up the debris very well. Just our experience!
I have hardwood floors all over my house. I vacuum first, then use Bona, a lovely floor system that you can find almost anywhere. I started using it after I asked my friend what she used to get sucn shiny floors.

I think you have the same manchurian (sp?) walnut as I do. And I clean them by paying my housekeeper to use murphy's oil soap diluted in water with a soft mop. ha! .-= Jill´s last blog ..When the Husband's Away =-.

Seriously, I’m glad you got a kick out of that. I wish they could come to our house today, my kitchen floors could really use a good scrubbing, and hey, they aren’t that busy anymore, right?

I want so badly to buy a steam cleaner, I’m saving up my spare change for one.

I have the I ROBOT pet series. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it for everyday sweeping on my hardwoods! SERIOUSLY changed my life! We just push the button and let it go. it picks up every dust bunny, crumb, and dog hair in the house. I highly recommend it for a busy mom! I really want to try the SCOOBA!
