But the taste of fresh green beans from the garden is so delicious.

Do tomatoes count as a veggie (or a fruit???)? To me, they are vegetables, and that’s what I’d pick. I bought three small plants from WM last summer and they quadrupled in size…they were almost small trees! I had a bumper crop of tomatoes. Almost set myself on fire canning them, and ruined my grandmother’s apron, but we still have canned and frozen bagged spaghetti sauce.

What a hard question. I enjoy tomatoes the most but the don’t do the best so far north. Cucumbers probably–for pickles all winter and fresh in the summer. Yum!

If I only had only one pot on a balcony to plant in I would plant tomatoes. Homegrown are so good they make you wonder if the store bought tomatoes are a different vegetable.

We grow chard here as a winter vegetable and I use it in lots of things, my favorite being an Italian torta that comes in handy when vegetarian friends come over for dinner.

If I lived in the sunny US, tomatoes. As I live in the North of England, it would have to be spinach: you can eat it raw in salads or cook it. Second choice would be beets: you can eat the greens or the root. The root is supposed to be good for increasing endurance and good for the liver.

Hmmm…that is a really tough one…I’m trying to think of one other than tomatoes..I think I’ll say lettuce because it’s something I can go out and pick fresh everyday and stagger the plantings so I always have it available.

I know they're not really vegetables but my favorite part of my garden is the herbs! Basil, rosemary, mint, chives...yum! Herbs are so pricey at the store so I love being able to just go snip a few off and toss them into a dish. .-= Katie @ Haute Apple Pie´s last blog ..How to Refinish a Dresser =-.
