A few weeks ago, when my kids came home from school, I had this healthy Bush’s Beans dip waiting for them.

Bush’s Black Bean Dip
1 15-ounce can of Bush’s Black Beans, drained and rinsed
½ cup salsa
2 T fresh lime juice
2 T fresh cilantro, chopped (we used a little less)
¼ tsp cumin (we used a little less)
Salt and freshly ground pepper to taste

It was so easy to make. You just add all the ingredients into the food processor or blender!

Blend and serve with pita chips or fresh veggies, or in my case tortilla chips.

I love cooking more with beans. Especially for snacks when we tend to reach for “unhealthy” quick and easy processed food!
Today I’m giving away 4 of these awesome Bush’s Bean strainers! You open the can and drain the beans right from the can. So EASY! I love mine!
Open the can, put the strainer over the open end, and then pour/strain out the juices!

Hi, I'm Sandy. Five years ago I stocked up on beautiful glasses from the Dollar Store. As I started writing about dinner parties, I realized that this “icon” portrays a great message.

We eat beans all the time-It’s a toss-up between pintos or black beans: Kidneys for chili, pintos alone or in soups, black beans in salads…I guess I’d have to say black beans in warm weather, pintos in cold.

Our family loves pinto beans best! I will try this recipe first with the black beans because I am sure it is delicious. Then I may try it with pinto beans next! We love chips and dip so it is great when the dip is healthy.

hmm. i would say that the bean we eat the most often would have to be kidney beans. in chili. second would have to be refried beans! does that even count as a bean. lol. and in the summer i make baked beans at least 3 or 4 times. we are just not real big bean eaters.
but I am loving that strainer! thanks for the opportunity!

Beans are a staple here – we always have both dry beans (pinto) and canned (black) on hand. Friday’s are family fun nights with movies, games and Nachos for dinner and we put 2 cans of strained black beans on the nacho pile. It’s hands down the favorite meal of the week if you ask my kids.
If anyone wants an easy night – here’s what we pile on them:
1 bag of nacho chips
3 cans of chili – (we use no beans because we use black canned seperately)
3 cans strained black beans
grated cheddar
- heat thru, let cheese melt
add lettuce, tomato, jalapeno, sour cream, guac and salsa.

Definitely black, because if the recipe calls for black, we use black, but if it calls for pinto, we use half pinto, half black.
Learned something this week about boracho beans. You should use a lager, a pilsner is okay, but a pale ale is a no go. Too bitter, and the beans end up tasting burnt. Which is a tragedy.

In my home, we use a lot of garbanzo beans (chick peas)! They are great in salads, soups, hummus, stuffed into pitas, etc. Love em’! Thanks for the offers!

When I was a child, my mom always added a can of kidney beans to taco meat. It definately extended a pound of meat. Taco meat just isn’t the same without beans!!

We love beans… our favorites are seasonal. In the winter we eat more chili, and kidney beans, and in the summer it’s black beans. Yum!

We eat a lot of navy beans here as a family, but I love chick peas. I eat them right out of the can, on a salad and make my own hummus. This black bean dip sounds delish. I know my son would have a fit over it. Can’t wait to give it a try.
Happy Monday,
Jen

We love pinto beans for sure but garbanzo beans (chickpeas) in borsch and hummus are really really good!

The strainer looks wonderful. Ours doesn’t have a handle. I’d LOVE to win this. Our family uses several beans but probably black beans the most often (taco salad is just blah without them!). We use white northern beans for chicken chili, too. YUM!

We love black, garbanzo and pinto, but I almost always have pinto beans in the freezer. I make up a large batch of 3lbs. with onions, garlic, butter, salt and pepper and I freeze most of it. It makes for nutritious tacos, burritos, addition to chili, baked beans etc. and it is more economical than buying individual cans of beans.
[Reply]
We love kidney beans! Thanks for this great recipe
[Reply]
Garbanzo beans are by far our most popular bean. Hummous with everything. Whole in salads. Vegetable soup. Love them!
[Reply]
Garbanzo beans are like candy to me! Also refried beans at least once a week. I make mine in the crockpot.
[Reply]
black beans. garbanzo beans. kidney beans. refried beans. you name it…we eat it!

I usually buy Bushs. I like the Black Beans, Light Red Kidney Beans and Great Northern Beans.

We are a bean family! lol We are big fans of black beans. My favorite is Bush’s Low Sodium Black Beans. You can’t tell they have are low sodium. My only complaint is that they are hard to find–I can only find them at one store. I want to learn how to make my own refried black beans because they are so delicious!
[Reply]
We love beans… but black beans and garbonzo beans are probably our favorites.

I made the black bean dip last night, it was fabulous!!!! We loved it! I loved it so much in fact I am going to a meeting for a board that I was graciously asked to sit on next week and I am taking it this to share…. We love Bush’s Maple flavored baked beans, we eat them just as they are out of the can, and we include them in our recipe that we call the Open It Dump It bean soup, where we just look in the pantry and find what ever kind of beans we have and we always have several kinds, I saute onions and one to two strips of bacon and then pour the beans in and bring them to a simmer for about 15 minutes , we serve it up hot with a crusty french bread. This a go to recipe for when company drops by and you do not want the visit to end, simple and delicious!!!
[Reply]
Black beans are my standby in the pantry. Lately I’ve been playing with garbanzo’s tho. Humus, Spanish bean tapa’s, in salads, in soups. All beans are good.

I’m not sure I’ve met a bean I don’t like to be honest! But, in the summer I love pinto beans with fresh vegetables and cornbread; in the winter I love red beans and rice; spring is navy beans with left over Easter ham in a soup and fall our favorite is baked beans with something from the grill. I love using my slow cooker to make the dried beans and usually use Camillia brand dried beans when I can find them.

I think I would have to say pinto. It’s so versatile!
