Oh my word! I just came across this recipe, and I might just have to go put my Christmas tree back up, string some lights on it, hang some ornaments and pretend it's Christmas again just so I can make this recipe! Looks delish! (We love some good French toast around here, especially when I can make it the night before and just toss it in the oven the next day!) Hope you and your family had a very Merry Christmas. As much as I'm a summer gal, I'm pretty much counting down the days until the Christmas season of 2018! - Mauri @www.theamericanpatriette.com

Mine was really watery at the bottom. I had to use canned pears because fresh were all hard as a rock but I drained them really well. The eggs were set. Not sure how to fix this because the flavor was good but the extra liquid at the bottom was not good at all. Any suggestions?

I looked back at my comment in 2010 and it hasn't changed. I still make cinnamon rolls on Christmas morning. This year my MIL is adding an egg casserole to the morning which will be nice to tone down the sweetness.

This was delicious! I halved the recipe and made it in a square glass, baking dish. I also used torn up challah instead of french bread. I almost doubled the cooking time. It got real brown on top and really rose up. I could see the syrup on the bottom bubbling and kept baking until a sharp knife, inserted in the center, came out relatively clean. Sooooo good! Thanks

I made this last Christmas & it was wonderful. Have you ever tried applies instead of pears? Just curious how it turned out, I'm thinking about trying it soon. Thanks!

I tried this recipe on my family this morning - the flavor was delicious, but the texture was very soggy. I baked it for 40 minutes as directed, the top was a nice crusty brown just pictured. I am wondering if anyone else had this similar experience? Also, I am wondering if baking it longer would help?
Merry Christmas to all!
