My friend, Kristen Welch, wrote a book that has just been released, just in time for …
Mother’s Day!
Today I’m giving away TWO COPIES of her devotional book, Don’t Make Me Come Up There! but I also plan on giving a few copies away to some young mommies that I know, because I remember all too well how I loved reading books of inspiration when my kids were young.
Basically, I needed to know that my life was “normal” and that I wasn’t the only one exhausted, and yes, that some days I didn’t feel like being a mom anymore. (My 3 kids were all little about 10 years ago.)
Does this sound familiar?
Last week was not bad. Not the kind of bad you can blame on a broken dishwasher or a naughty child or someone else.
It was a week filled with me failing.
I wasn’t a great mom or a good wife. I raised my voice too much and didn’t listen enough. I was short-tempered and impatient and just generally unhappy.
Sure, I can come up with excuses that might justify some of my behavior. But I had a choice of how to handle my frustrating week. And I failed. It hurts to admit that I had a test and I got a big fat zero on it.
We live in a world that doesn’t like failure. It’s ugly and messy. Our world wants perfection, perfectly manicured people who never mess up. Just turn on the television or go to the movies or ask a friend if he or she has messed up lately.
Failure makes us uncomfortable. Failure makes us want to cover it up, excuse it. Failure makes us want to run away …
… and then Kristen goes on to share a way to freedom and offers hope.
… while sharing 52 inspirational and true-life stories and reflections written for real, everyday moms.

Hi, I'm Sandy. Five years ago I stocked up on beautiful glasses from the Dollar Store. As I started writing about dinner parties, I realized that this “icon” portrays a great message. It says that dinner parties are attainable, they are affordable, and that they can be beautiful even when on a budget.
