Warm Connections {Day 6}: Encouragement with Easy Pear Cobbler
With fall officially here, it’s time to nestle in to our homes and stay in with the people who matter.
We all have friends, but many of us are just too busy to connect with those we love.
So when our friends texted us to come out to their ranch for a late night visit last weekend, we said yes. We said yes, right away, because my husband and I both needed encouragement.
We all need encouragement. I can’t think of one person who does well without it.
These two people are great encouragers to me and my husband. They’ve been encouraging friends through rough times, and have encouraged us to strive for greatness in the good times. They’ve created an environment in their home to help people become their best. They’ve had a positive influence in the lives of so many people, I can’t even tell you.
Three simple things come to mind when it comes to being an influencer to others around us:
1. If you want to lift people up, do it daily.
2. In a negative environment, remember it takes extra effort in the form of a kind word, a servant’s action, and a bit of creativity to be a positive influence.
3. Act now. Don’t wait until tomorrow.
What I love about being an encourager is that it leaves such a warm feeling. You don’t have to be smart, rich, known, or act like you have it all together.
All you have to do is care about people and open your mouth to say so.
Warmer connections come when we think less about ourselves and offer positive words to others.
Have you encouraged someone today?
Using some old pears in my kitchen, I whipped up my yummy pear cobbler to take out to the ranch. I made one for my kids (who stayed at home) and on to take with us.

What a fantastic subject! I have been thinking about inspiring others lately, and the ones who inspire us…
Encouragement is a great way to look at it. How do we encourage? It’s not only saying “don’t worry, you’re a great mom/dad/employee..” it’s more than that. Maybe we encourage by our actions, by being courageous ourselves. Maybe we encourage by reminding people a past success in their lives.. I’ll be thinking about it today : ) Thank you dear Sandy.
Cheers from Greece
This looks mouthwatering Sandy! Being someone who encourages well is a gift…you want to hang on to those friends! You are also a great encourager, so I’m sure the feeling is mutual from them. Loving your series!
Had a wonderful time with family this last week on a little vacation and did just as you said. Make those we love the priority. In the busyness of getting everything ready, I missed the chance to link up to your 31 days. I’m doing 31 days of Cooking with chicken. Oh, well. At least had a chance to spend some quality time with the family and next year will be able to link up.
Hi Sandy,
Yes – I agree with the other commenter – another great post!
And I also agree with your advice to encourage folks to be the best they can be. I am a positive person and I love to be around other positive people. But when I am around someone who is very negative or just generally down – I try to encourage them to look at the bright side of things. I’m not always successful but every once and awhile, someone will come back to me and say, “You really helped me look at things differently that day. Thanks.” Things like that always put a smile on my face and make the time and effort to reach out to others well worth it. :-)
Love,
Mary
Yep, baked bliss. Right in my face.
Another wonderful post, Sandy. It’s the old adage to surround yourself with people who make you feel good about yourself, not bring you down. I strive to be one of those people, I’m sure you already are. Have a great day.
Of all the words in this post, I think I’m most challenged by these: act now. How many times have I felt the prompting to write a note or make a call or do something for someone and thought I’ll do it later only to forget about it all together? Act now. Good words for me today.
On my thoughts for the day- Be someone who encourages. You are so right we all need a little encouraging from time to time. Love your quote “You don’t have to be smart, rich, known, or act like you have it all together.” I think I will fb that today.
Thanks ….
Have a wonderful day…. you are awesome =)
Sandy, I am so enjoying this series. I agree, it is wonderful to have those types of people in our lives. Someone to encourage us, lift us up, raise our spirits. I hope I can be that someone for someone else. Thanks for sharing the wonderful recipe.
