Texture.
The textures of autumn are earthy and rustic.
I love to think of entertaining in the next month, outside in jeans and sweaters.
With possibly a rich, thick, dark brown tablecloth accented with autumn daisies.
Maybe the fire will be toasty with hot embers.
I recently purchased some new autumn-colored dish towels, fun to use as napkins. (Thank you, TJ Maxx.)
Burlap tablecloths for $10 each, otherwise known as “drop cloths.”
Leaves, pears, apples, greenery.
Burlap runners with grasses and the harvest.
Twine, baskets, and lots of candles.
I love the feel of the evening with friends we love.
The smell in the air.
The rich texture of the season.
Texture.
What comes to mind when you think of autumn textures?

Hi, I'm Sandy. Five years ago I stocked up on beautiful glasses from the Dollar Store. As I started writing about dinner parties, I realized that this "icon" portrays a great message.
I want to share with you some of my favorite places to visit in blog-land, sites that I learn from and am inspired by, and some beautiful friends that I’ve met over the years.

YES! Textures are key to autumn decorating, like bumpy pine cones and ruffled mums. I guess because it’s getting cold out, I need the textures of warm sweaters and fleecy blankets to stay warm – both visually and literally!

Love it, Sandy!!! Kate at Centsational Girl had made napkins from dish towels once. I love the towels you chose and think I need to make a trip to TJMaxx soon!

I am loving this series! I love those burlap “drop cloths”, too. What a great idea! Have you washed them yet? Did they clean up well? Thanks, Sandy!

I have not washed them yet. I’m thinking I’ll just hand wash the spots and allow to dry. I’ll let you know! I did just turn them over for the “next” party … it worked!

Earthy! That is such a great descriptive word for autumnal textures! I feel so warm now.
