A Few of My Favorite {Red} Things

I love this time of year–all of the lights, colors, music playing, peeking in to other homes at nighttime (do you do that as you’re driving by?), trees, decorations, … and creativity. Everyone has their own style. Their own tradition on how to decorate. What they love and bring out of boxes from the attic, the foods they serve.

It truly is the most wonderful time of the year!

I thought I’d share some photos from around my house. I really love RED this time of year, and it shows …

Find an old bucket and fill it up.

Our red front door.

Yummy smell of Christmas on the counter.

Standard black tights/red skirt (Nordstrom rack).

Sunset Magazine, a touch of red on the succulent moss wreath.

Yeas ago, our boys in matching fabric.

Playing carols and hymns on Grandma’s piano.

Red stockings.

Adding fresh fruit when serving a holiday dessert.

Red container full of candles.

Dessert plates – Harmony, Joy, Peace, Hope.

Simple red ribbon around a jar of homemade applesauce.

Stan’s Poached Holiday Pears with accent red plate.

Coughlin Christmas card this year. :)

Peeking in to sons doing dishes after dinner.

Nighttime meal with my favorite salad bowl.

Our kids as babies.

Using burlap and berries.

Red table setting.

Preserving my mom’s handwriting on a plate.

Red holiday shoes.

Decorating with rose hips.

Aunt Barbara’s cranberry salad.

Beautiful paper napkins (easy)!

Joy to the World … on our dining room wall.

Candles from Michaels.

Cookie Butter from Trader Joe’s (okay, it’s not red, but have you tried it?) :)

Red lipstick and pretty holiday friends.

Wood by the fireplace.

Stay tuned for a post that includes this last picture. We had a family over for a casual Sunday meal … I can’t wait to share a delicious recipe and the elements of holiday surprise and warm friendships.

Looking around your house right now, what’s one or two of your favorite {red} things?

PS. It wouldn’t be the most wonderful time of the year without hearing our daughter playing …

So enjoyed your “Red Tour”. I must say it perked up my Christmas spirit this morning. I have a few red things and I added two fat red candles with cinnamon scent to the mix this year.

Happy Holidays to you and your family Sandy.

I’m feelin’ the red love, which is my favorite color. I may have to put up a couple of things on Instagram for you today, Sandy. Well, my front hall is Sampler Red by Para Paints. :-D The interior of my favorite coffee mug is red. My favorite Christmas box is red. I have red berries and beads and flowers scattered around. And you will find lots of red in ornaments on our tree.

I’m comin’ for your red shoes! LOL Your red door is fabulous, but what really caught my eye was the painting hanging on the wall. Is that out in the elements? That painting invites. Gorgeous.

Okay. I have to stop now.

I love all of the red in your home, especially your red door and your red dress! I also love your Christmas card…too cute! :-)

Looking around my home, I love my red plaid kitchen tea towels, and my beautiful red poinsettia. Red is such a festive color, isn’t it?

where do I find how to make the Christmas plate you made for your sisters one Christmas as a memory of your precious mom. I lost my mom and sister together in home fire this year. I found later her Grateful Journal ( mom had listed every family member with heart felt love and gratitude ) I know it will bless all of us at such a tender time. thank you

Love all your red!! I like to decorate with red at this time of year too. Around our house, my favorites are a tall wooden Santa, a red satin pillowcase tossed on our white bed or taupe sofa, red shiny toaster pulled out just for breakfast…
