Day 8. Ambience. Atmosphere of Love.
Ambience.
A feeling or mood associated with a particular place, person, or thing, or a season.
Autumnal ambience can really contribute to the entertaining mood.
Especially when the earlier sunset allows you to bathe in the evening lights of your outdoor space.
In Oregon we have 4-6 months of outdoor entertaining.
But because the days are shorter in the autumn, outdoor entertaining calls for special attention to lighting and temperature.
A few weeks ago we had an opportunity to entertain some very special friends in our backyard. Even though it was more of an “end-of-summer” event, for this sit-down-dinner we didn’t really have to worry about sweaters.
We used a lot of votive candles to create a cozy effect, and played lively music in the background, which included a little seranading from our daughter :) and party lights hung from the trees.
Candles.
Lights.
Music.
It helps set the mood.
It brings a good feeling to all.
To me, tying it all together creates an atmosphere of love.
Ambience.

There’s nothing like dining outside under the stars – your party looks magical. Sadly I think evening dinners outside are done for us for the year here in Canada.
