Friends, when I think about reaching out and slowing down, making the time, and inviting others into our homes, these everyday experiences can be so rich and meaningful. I came across this quote earlier this week, “Grace will take you places hustling can’t.” – Liz Gilbert.

So true.

Slowing down.

Keep it simple

Thinking about a simple meal, writing it down, delegating one or two of the courses to the guests.

Starting with what you know. Maybe that means a tried and true recipe.

You know you want your house to be nice (not perfect), so do a little each day to prepare for your guests. But remember, if you’re inviting people in for a meal that night, let go of the list in your head of unrealistic expectations. Plan the food, set the table, and get your heart ready for company!

This is what I’ve learned about hospitality: You have to feel your way through it.

You may be scared to death, but unless you dip your toe in the water and start somewhere, you’ll always compare yourself to others who make the invites, and never dive in yourself.

Make the effort; there will be a positive outcome.

Barbecue Spareribs

I got this recipe from my friend, Jenny, and we’ve found most people love ribs!

These are so easy because you prepare ahead of time, then toss into the oven!

Flavorful, and you can serve them in a fancy meal (boneless requires the touch of a fork), with a green salad and a side dish. Or a casual meal with a {best} potato salad, garlic cheese bread, and possibly a Napa cabbage cold slaw salad?

For camping, Jenny pre-cooks the meat at home, and then sears the ribs on the barbecue at camp. She reheats the sauce, serving it with the ribs – great camping dish!

How have you learned to “feel your way” through hospitality?
