Home is … Beautiful Art and Photography!
Welcome to Home is … Day here at RE! This week we’re sharing about art and photography on the walls of our homes!
I’ll start with my story, and then you can link up and share yours, okay?
I decided not to take pictures of every wall, but just highlight a few things that make my home homey and who we are as a family! Besides, we have a ton of windows in our home, and very little wall space.
When you walk into a home, I always tell friends not to be stressed about vacuuming or dusting, to realize that people usually don’t look down – they look up and around! Hopefully they’re giving you a big hug, and ready for a good time!
I love our dining room area, because it does say family.
Family photo from last Christmas (thank you, Tim Tidball Photogrpahy!)
Abby recently playing violin (again, thank you, Tim Tidball Photography!)
The Fondest Memories are made … (read post, here.)
Abby pie-face from a few summers ago.
And recently we hung an invoice (the family horse shoeing business) from around the 1940s in Ireland.
Beautiful Dollar Store RE goblet icon from UP Printing, on canvas!
And Kelly Anderson Art to brighten the kitchen.
Can’t forget the kids’ hand prints.
Or their art in the outdoor orange bathroom!
My latest wall is about food and friends.
Another piece of Ireland, brought from this trip, an original from Uncle Gabe.
Our home wouldn’t be complete without my husband’s photography on the walls.
And Anni Jones Art upstairs in our loft/family room.
And lastly, our son’s graduation picture.
So that is partly what makes my house a home … having beautiful pictures and art that means something to each family member. It might not be your taste, and your art may not be my kind of decorating, but one thing we can appreciate about our homes is that they are unique, hopefully full of love and compassion and respect toward one another, with beauty residing in many different ways.
What ways have you spruced up your home with art or photography?
Not it’s your turn … link up and share what’s on your walls with us today!
About Home is …
Each Wednesday you can link up here at RE, to a different theme that I will share in advance … which may be something like a beautiful set table, fresh flowers in the kitchen, dishes in your hutch, a meal on the stove, a family heirloom, a yard sale find and how you put it to use, pictures on the walls, music being played in the background … a feeling, a smell, a touch.
Each week I will provide you (on my sidebar) the theme each week which will hopefully inspire you!
Let’s share our links and have some fun! Please link directly to Reluctant Entertainer by post (exact URL) …no home pages please! And please, link back to RE! And don’t forget to visit one another’s blogs!
Thank You for participating!

I too love to tell the story of my family by the pictures and items on the walls. I love that it is more than just decoration, but that it also tells a story. Your photos and art are beautiful!

Sandy, your home is beautiful, and your art makes it so personal, warm and interesting. Thank you for sharing. You have such an eye for grouping framed pieces together! Our house has been on the market for 16 months and is very vanilla right now – no personal photos, etc! Can’t wait to get them all back up on the wall somewhere else and make our house a home again.
Sandy…what fun! I linked up and enjoyed seeing everyone’s post. Love your new wall in the dining room.

This was such a fun thing to do … thanks for hosting, Sandy! Your home is so lovely and I love your design style. {{BIG HUGS}}
My, what beautiful things you have on the walls. I love your husband’s photographs. I’ve been trying to figure out a way to incorporate some of my photographs from our travels on the walls of my home. I’m thinking of turning the dining room into a mini-gallery. Not sure if that would be good or not. The whole place needs a major make-over. [sigh]

Hi Sandy!
Love all your personal art! It indeed makes a house a home. The family photo from last Xmas looks like a RL ad! What a handsome family!
So nice to meet you and your blog! I see you live in “God’s country”!! We lived in Portland for several years (Dan is an Oregon boy!) Miss the great NW!

What a joy to see your life reflected on your walls. It’s like… every picture tells a story, of where you were, how you acquired a certain piece, or what your life was life at just that moment in time. Thank you for sharing all these little stories of your life.
hi Sandy! I love all your pictures. I am sure your guests feel right at home when you are entertaining. It just looks inviting with all your little touches.

It’s so much fun seeing parts of you in your home. I treasure our family photos from trips here and there and find it difficult to hang other art that is not either from someone we know or has some significant meaning. Fun stuff!

Hey, Sandy, I’m adding my gallery wall. I keep finding other cool things to add to it & it’s a very eclectic wall.
I love all your art & personal touches. I’ve got many family photos scattered around the house too.
Your walls definitely tell that you love your family. I love that! I also love that it is done in so many ways. Their art, your husband’s photos, family photos…etc. So lovely.

I love your photos and art. I have mostly photographs or artwork created by my daughters on the wall. To me, they are my most beautiful works of art:-)
I think what is on the walls, more than any other material element, is what makes a house a home. You see the passions and personalities of a family through their art and photographs. Thanks so much for sharing yours with us.
Wow you have so many gorgeous things! We only have a few at the moment, I’d really like to get some of my photos printed large and framed though. It takes a while to collect things that you really love, I prefer to take my time and find things that really mean somthing to me, like your art and photos.
I love your Kelly Anderson Art, everytime I see it I love how cheery it is. We have a lot of decision to make regarding colours and furniture then I’ll look for something to brighten our kitchen like that.
It’s quite an exciting time moving into a new place and putting your mark on it.
Have a lovely day,
Jade
