Most people look forward to summer and the hot days (especially if you love the water), but I love to savor and celebrate summer in the brisk mornings, and the cool, lingering evenings.

It’s always special if you’re hosting, to have a delicious, fresh summer dessert to share, like this Spicy Peach Pecan Crisp Recipe. Raise your hand if you love peaches! (Hand raised:)

And, today is my birthday! Big 54, I’m grateful for another year of life, with so many blessings. It’s hard to even describe the gratitude in my heart today. I miss my mama more than ever, but LOVE this picture of her holding me as a wee little babe.

I came across this photo of parents (far right) about 60 years ago in Medford, with my mom’s sisters. This is the way they entertained, very simply, picnic-table style! (I so love this picture of my mom and dad!)

We also love peach season! Mm-m-m-. so good. White peaches are our favorite. Here are some recipes on my blog: White Peach Pasta Salad, White Peach Goat Cheese Appetizer, Best Peach Tart, and Salted Caramel Peache and Ice Cream.

Inspired by my friend Robyn’s new book, I whipped up a Spicy Peach Crisp Recipe this past week, when my dad and his wife were visiting.

Robyn says this is freezer friendly: “Let the cooked peach crisp cool completely. Wrap tightly in plastic wrap, then foil. Store in a freezer bag in the freezer for up to 3 months. To serve, thaw in the refrigerator overnight. Reheat in a 350°F oven until warmed through, 10 to 15 minutes.”

If peaches are not in season, you can substitute apples, pears, blueberries, or marionberries, or blackberries. You can also use regular pecans or walnuts if don’t want to make this “spicy.” The jury is out for my family if they really liked the spice. It was a half and half consensus.

Happy Wednesday, Friends!
