This lovely DIY Succulent Chalkboard Place Card Setting can be used for any party, for any season, and can even be sent home as a party favor!
Tonight is the only night this summer our family of 5 will be together for a meal, so I’m determined to make it fun and memorable! Everyone is going in different directions this summer, one son to China, the other home from college, our daughter headed to Mexico to build houses, and my husband and I will be going to Africa, where he’ll be speaking and helping free Africa bullying. We’ll be scattered, but in our hearts, we’ll be together. The love of a family goes deep and I never want to take our moments together for granted.
My daughter came up with this simple, creative idea for making DIY succulent chalkboard place card setting, which (big smile) we didn’t really need for our family (I think we know each other? LOL).
But it’s a clever idea that I’m using for our next dinner party!
So easy.
She gathered succulents from our yard, using clear Dollar Store votive glasses, chalkboard paint–all with the help of her kitty, Hobbes, who never leaves her side.
Our pets are a huge part of our lives. So it’s fun when they end up in our photos, or on Instagram.
I love Abby’s creation. So simple and sweet. We set the table with a pretty tablecloth, and geared up for a great night ahead!

How to make DIY Succulent Chalkboard Place Card Settings:
Gather:
6 clear glass votive holders
Chalkboard paint
Dirt
Succulents
ChalkSpray the clear glass votives with chalkboard paint. Allow to dry for a few hours.
Spoon dirt into each vase.
Remove a tiny succulent from the garden bed and plant in the container.
Write on the outside of each vase with chalk, the name of each guest.

What an adorable idea! Thanks sooo much for sharing. I just love to create a beautiful table, whether indoors or out!
Where, or where did you find such a bright n beautiful tablecloth? I love to use printed tablecloths to bring color and/or a theme to the setting.
Neat tip: I don’t like ironing, due to problems w/my hands but I love using pretty cloth tablecloths, just the same. I have some sweet vintage ones from the ’40’s & ’50’s. I buy heavy-weight clear plastic from off the roll at Hobby Lobby (or Wal-Mart) in the appropriate length to cover my tables. Placed over the cloth tablecloth, it enables us to still enjoy the beauty but we can relax about any little accidental spills.

Such a simple and fun idea! Really like the use of chalkboard paint because they’re so easy to reuse.
