Bargain: New to me Campaign Table!

I’m so happy it’s thrifting season again! Finding a bargain is one of my greatest joys, because I know what I’m purchasing is usually about one-tenth of the original cost.

Last season one of my $20 unique finds was an antique side table that fold ups. Our friend, Stephen, gave us the history behind these campaign tables, which were used during military campaigns.

I have a new-found appreciation for my bargain, musty-smell and all. It works perfectly as an overflow table for serving pieces and water pitchers.

It’s interesting to share the history behind yard sale finds or bargains at dinner parties! It creates unique conversation, and you never know what you’ll learn!

I’d love to hear about your most recent find? Or, do you have something in mind you’ll be looking for this coming yard sale season?

  10. Sandy, I read your post and was struck with a memory of being back in language training. Our amazing teacher is a card carrying communist (I’m serious) and told us how she thought America had plastic trees before she came. She also told about the things they heard of our yard sales and how aghast they were to hear that we would sell our children’s things on the street!

  11. Nice find! I love the table.

  16. Hi Sandy,

Love the table! It beats those folding banquet style tables for overflow. Yours definitely has more character! I also love your kitty! Our Simba looks just like yours. He’s actually our second gray and white one. If you are interested, you can see him and his adoption story here…

  20. Amost everything in my house has a story. The only brand spanking new pieces I have in my house are my daughters’ beds…those were also given to them by their grandmother, my mother, and there’s even a story behind that. My couch and loveseat, however, would be my thriftiest find…I just happened to be in the right place at the right time…a friend of mine was moving out of her temporary apartment to move home to Jackson and just needed someone to take the 1 year old tapestry set off her hands. I paid her $100 (bc I felt guilty) and moved the furniture myself :)
