I have never had cantalope and ice cream but am gonna try it! I just bought a big melon to make a fruit salad to take to a lunch tomorrow! Cantalope Martini sounds good too as the soup does! I love lope and proscuto!!!! YUM! XO, Pinky

I forgot about ice cream and cantaloupe. This was a favorite dish for my Grandmother to serve.
Thank you for all the other great ideas. I just bought some cantaloupe because they were on special at the store. I thought I bought too much and then these wonderful recipes came along.

Delish! One of my fav memories of childhood too! We use to sit up at the drop-leaf counter in our jammies and my dad would scoop ice cream into the juicy melon halves! Love it! Chris Ann

One of my favorite forms of canteloupe is canteloupe jelly bellys :) It is always tricking finding them though because they look like orange. All of these recipes look fantastic — especially the melon salad and the martinis. I am always intimidated by melons but have been trying to psych myself up to go buy a watermelon this weekend for a watermelon salad…might have to add a canteloupe in the mix. I literally do not think I have ever had to cut my own melon before!

What wonderful recipes! I wanted to share that I had lunch yesterday with a dear friend. We don’t often get together as our schedules are quite different due to the age differences of our children (I have two older, she has four ranging from elementary to college). She invited me over for a nice brunch. She mentioned how much she enjoyed your book, part of the reason she decided to invite me for a last minute lunch date. You see, after reading your book I gave a copy to several friends whom I thought would enjoy it. She said she was glad she didn’t feel like we needed a special date or that her house had to be spotless in order to extend an invitation. So, thank you once again for writing Reluctant Entertainer.

Your Friday Round-ups are killing me, Sandy. The Avocado and Cantaloupe salad, oh boy. And the Cantaloupe Martinis look so pretty and refreshing. I made your peach cobbler last week. Cantaloupe is one of my favorite melons. My cousin went to Greece this summer and had Cantaloupe Gelato on her trip. She came home and recreated it for me and it was fabulous….That’s a sweet memory of your Grandmother’s farm. I’m going to have to remember that next summer when we have cantaloupes running out of our ears (hopefully). Have a great weekend!

I love cantaloupe with ice cream too…I already shared on FB, but our new fav combo this year is a black cherry/vanilla swirl frozen yogurt from Edy’s on top garnished with raspberries or blackberries. We eat it for breakfast :-). *LOVE*! I also make Cantaloupe Sorbet (esp. with under ripe or not too sweet melons) and made cantaloupe froyo for the first time this year. It was yummolicious!
