Chili Lime Steak Fajita Tacos Recipe

We love fajitas and tacos for dinner on a regular basis. Sometimes we make them with chicken, steak or shrimp, and sometimes we serve them on an Easy Taco Dinner Recipe Board. This time we added Chili Lime Steak Fajitas to the menu!

It’s time to share the recipe, so let’s get started.

What are steak fajitas made of?

This steak recipe is made with fajitas, which is pronounced fah-hee-tas.  Fajitas are normally made with grilled strips of skirt steak, marinaded with Tex Mex spices. And then served with onions and bell peppers, and fresh tortillas, The toppings are typically guacamole, sour cream, and salsa.

How to make the Fajita Vegetables

Fajita veggies are super easy! All you need are onions, a mix of bell peppers (we love to use all the colors–red, yellow, green, and orange), and olive oil.

Saute up and then add your favorite spices, like Mexican Spice Blend, or cumin and red chili pepper. Then a splash of lime!

How to cook Beef fajitas

Heat heavy frying pan on high heat. When very hot, sear steaks on both sides.

Allow steaks to cook 70% through before flipping (rare to medium rare), on each side. The amount of time depends on the thickness.

When steaks are done, slice into strips—against the grain of the meat–and set aside.

Guacamole or sour cream.

Salsa or picco de gallo is optional!

Always fresh lime for the garnish!

Cilantro adds a nice touch, too.

When you set the table, do you put all the food in the center and let everyone dive in, or do you arrange it on the countertop, and let everyone help themselves.

We do both ways, but what I love is that there is no wrong or right way to serve up food! But there is a “right” way to eat together! And that is … you sit down together.

You don’t grab a plate of food, and go do your own thing. But you do pull up a chair and rub elbows and dive in together, and talk. I love the family table, and when our family is all together.

Happy March, Friends!
