9 Easy Canned Tuna Meals

We buy tuna in the 8 pack at Costco, so we always keep it stocked in our pantry! Today we’re reaching into our pantry, and sharing old recipes that have been on my blog for years! We love tuna, and canned tuna is one of the most convenient and inexpensive ways to add protein to a meal.

A few things, besides thinking about food all day long (HA), is keeping busy during these times!

Getting out for a walk in the sunshine every day feels like a little slice of heaven. I’ve been walking 7 miles a day!

It’s easy to try to project ahead and figure out what the world might be like after all of this, but I’m reminding myself to stay daily present with the people around me, give thanks, and keep working hard. We made a chicken and rice soup the other night for dinner (recipe coming soon). Simple is good!

What can I mix with canned tuna?

    • Swap tuna into your favorite salmon or crab cake recipe.
    • Swap tuna into any “canned chicken” recipe.
    • Mix tuna into a vegetable or potato-based soup, or into stew instead of chicken.

What can you mix with tuna instead of mayo?

  • Low-Fat Plain Greek Yogurt (or cottage cheese) or olive oil (but you’ll need a seasoning).
  • You can add a tablespoon of dry Ranch dressing mix, or any kind of flavored salt.
  • Mix in some Dijon mustard, or even a dash of soy sauce or coconut aminos.
  • You can mix it into tuna, chicken salad, or egg salad to give you more of a tangy taste.

What is canned tuna?

There are two main kinds of canned tuna: Chunk white (albacore), which is what we buy at Costco, or chunk light and solid. Tuna (or tuna fish) is canned in edible vegetable oils, a brine, and water. All canned tuna is albacore, which is sold in canned form as “white meat tuna.”
