First BBQ …
I’m happy to say that even though it was chilly out, we had our first BBQ of the year last week.
Our family rallied together to made it happen!Â
Throwing down a tablecloth
It was 8:30 when we sat down to eat. It was dark outside, but we had the torches lit, a candle on the table, and the moon was shining bright.
The most important thing was that the 5 of us were together.
Our meal wasn’t fancy, but it was healthy, and our family conversation was robust, as our son had just returned from his first Greyhound bus experience, visiting our friends up north. We laughed our heads off at some of the interesting (scary!) bus stories …
Have you had your first BBQ this season?

And what did you serve?
Hey!!! We have the EXACT SAME GRILL! LOVE IT!
We BBQ year round … so we’ve had a lot of BBQs already — but one funny story — about a month ago, I tried out a new rotiserie chicken marinade. I wanted to cut up the whole chicken and grill it. My husband wanted to keep it whole and rotiserie it. He won. Little did he realize that rotisering on a colder day takes a LOT longer. Three hours later… the chicken STILL wasn’t done, and we ended up taking it off the grill, putting it in the refrigerator, and ate sides for dinner. The following day he finished cooking it in oven.
Plan, plan, plan! Timing is so important!
We DID! It was so wonderful smelling the familiar bbq offerings coming from our grill. THe first hint of summer around here and we are on it!
We did chicken and Tri tip! always a favorite.

We had our first BBQ on Easter. We had the traditional ham but also got the grill going with some steaks. YUM!
Just pulled out even more meat for more BBQ-ing this week. More YUM!
We haven’t had out first BBQ…YET! It is sorta the initiation for spring/summer. I really can’t wait. *tapping foot at Mother Nature* Your meal looks delicious! We like to use Old Bay Seasoning on all our meat/poultry it’s YUMM-O! I always have to make roasted ears of corn…that’s my fav!
Hope you had a wonderful weekend!
Sandy, we haven’t bbq-ed yet. It has snowed every week for weeks. You know, it snows…melts, snows again…and then melts. Ugh! Today is beautiful and it makes me want to go up in the mountains on Sunday to cook our supper over a fire.
Have a blessed day!

Your dinner looks delicious. We’ve barbequed some meat, but we have not eaten outside yet. Maybe soon…
