Home is … Creating Easter Memories!
Welcome to Home is … Day here at RE! This week we’re sharing …
… an Easter memory!
I’ll start with my story, and then you can link up and share yours, okay?
Home is … sharing holidays with friends and family! And this last weekend I have so memories that I want to tuck away and never forget. Because they have to do with people I love!
What started with a dinner at our friends’ house, soon got moved to our house when they decided to rip out their floors (a little home improvement going on there), so they graciously asked if we would host.
Of course! How could we say no with this new over-sized center island that we just put in our kitchen? See how it’s perfect for a buffet style meal?
We started by using what we had, although we did splurge on paper napkins!
The tulips were in full bloom in our front yard.
Home is … setting the table beautifully. And adding a table on.
And waiting for the company to arrive.
The weather was freezing outside, but that didn’t stop us from having a great time with these beautiful kids.
And great conversation around the table, using place cards and setting the table adult, kid, adult, kid, adult, kid …
And then the real fun began … BINGO.
I have to admit, it was our first time to play Bingo on Easter.
But all 16 of us really got into it!
It all began after we went to church and rejoiced in the celebration of the true meaning of Easter: The Resurrection.
Home to me is being flexible, as in when friends need to move the party from their house to our house.
It’s always worth is when we say “yes!”
I’d love to hear one of your Easter memories?
Wow! What a day! What a beautiful family!
Thanks for stopping by and inviting me over! I’m glad I didn’t miss this! Thanks!
Gorgeous photos – you can really sense the feeling of friends and family gathering together.
I managed to join in this week (yeah!) despite being away in Dublin for 5 days over Easter.

I so admire your motto. I know I certainly am guilty of trying to make everything perfect before having friends over. Thanks for visiting my blog and for reminding me what is truly important.
How lovely…I am jealous of the island and those tulips. Your Easter meal looks fantastic and I LOVE hat you played BINGO! Sorry, I did not join in this week (I actually wrote one, but it was very depressing.)
I’ll be here next week!

First, thanks to Darcy at m3b for pointing me this-a-way. :)
Second, I was sooo excited to get to host Easter for the first time this year! It seems we’ve always been going to either my parents or my in-laws every year, which has been lovely, but I was thrilled to get the chance to do something myself.
Instead of the traditional Easter dinner or ham or lamb, we did Easter brunch (which I’ve never actually eaten anywhere other than a fancy restaurant or hotel!). I wish I had more pics of the table/meal, but I served hot cross buns as a “starter,” while people arrived and mingled (along with coffee/mimosas/o.j.). Then for the sit-down meal, we had three different kinds of individual quiches (made in muffin tins — they were adorable!), and crepes with fresh fruit. I had been growing wheatgrass in various bowls and eggshells and whatever I could find, so that served as our decor. It was so fun, and I do hope I get to host again next year! :)
You always have the most beautiful tablescapes, Sandy. Lovely.

Thanks for visiting and commenting at Hospitality Lane. Your Easter Day sounds truly unique (the Bing-o) but full of family and friends. We had a fun but busy Easter Day, as well.
How exciting to be working on a book. I’ll be anxious to watch for it.

Oh Sandy, you truly ARE such an inspiration! I was unable to load any pics today for some odd reason, but I am glad to participate. I missed out last week! You were so gracious to host the celebration, and it is a just a testimony to your gift and generosity!

I’m drooling over your buffet… we had grilled cheese for lunch and tacos for dinner. I’m over it now.
I love tulips- every Dutch gene in me goes wild over them! We went to Holland one spring to see them in bloom and it’s just breathtaking.

This year we started a new tradition.
Brunch on Easter Sunday.
We have to start over on all holidays since they dynamics of our “family” have changed. This brunch worked out for everyone and it was truly wonderful.

It looks lovely, I can’t wait to have flowers in my own garden so I can use what we’ve got. (I’m excited about growing some veggies too)
Do you have any suggestions for easy flowers for a novice gardener to grow? I’m not sure where to start, but I do love tulips, I’m not sure what kind of climate they need!
We had a slightly unusual Easter meal this year – Japanese style – it was really tasty though. I’ll post about that later this week when I get my photos on Flickr.
For today I’m thinking about past Easters, we’ve lost most of the traditions we did as kids and I need to bring some of them back or make some new ones of our own.
Have a lovely day,
Jade
