Invest, not impress! Words to live by! That dessert would make me very happy, it looks amazing. Since I don’t love to bake, when i need a dessert to serve I usually buy an angel food cake and serve with mixed berries tossed in balsamic glaze & a little sugar, your whipped cream would be perfect for it!

What a wonderful idea! I have been a reader of your wonderful blog for many years. I am up late because of some delicious iced Chai tea that I drank way too much of & fixing up my new blog.

I loved that you included the raspberries on the cake.They are so bright and beautiful and really stand out with the cream. Beautiful cake Sandy!

Sandy, what a great idea! :) I don’t do this often but I have done it in the past with desserts for the very reason you mentioned-it’s 90-100 degrees in FL, our A/C works very hard to keep our house cool and the last thing I want to do is turn on the oven and heat up the kitchen and surrounding area. I’m with you on seasonal berries and adding a personal touch! I love that you shared it with your hosts too! I just love your transparency in your book and on the website. We need more people like you re-affirming that it’s okay not to do everything perfectly or like Martha Stewart. I’d rather spend more time with my family and the people I love then slaving away in the kitchen. :) XO

What a great idea! I love to bake, so I seldom buy store bought desserts. In a pinch in the past I have purchased a store bought angel food cake and sliced it into three layers. I topped each layer with home made whipped cream and fresh berries and then assembled the layers and frosted the whole cake with whipped cream. It was easy and delicious! Nobody had to know that I bought the cake! :-)
