Love is … 4 Giveaway Items That Will Refresh Your Soul!

Love is … patient, kind, does not envy, does not boast, is not proud, is not rude, is not self-seeking … (I Corinthians 13)

This beautiful passage is all-too-familiar to me, because I’ve heard it all of my life; I even memorized it as a child. It’s easy to read, but not always easy to live out – completely. I don’t know about you, but I really want to learn how to love more.

It’s easy to love when life is cruising along just fine.
It’s hard to love when life gets complicated and painful.

I have the above “list” posted on my refrigerator, as a gentle reminder as I walk by, of God’s love that is foundational for all other loves. It reminds me that true love gives itself freely as a gift, not as a bribe for something in return. It doesn’t bargain or manipulate or seek to control. It protects, trusts, and hopes.

And it captures my heart.

Today on RE, before we come together at the Relevant ’11 conference later this year, Tsh Oxenriender (Simple Mom), Ann Voskamp (Holy Experience), and I are giving away copies of our books, along with a gorgeous, springy apron from Debbie (The Hip Hostess).

Consider this giveaway a beautiful GIFT OF LOVE from the 4 of us to you.

Comment to WIN (one of these items) that I promise will refresh your soul:

• LOVE of EVERY DAY BLESSINGS. One Thousand Gifts, by Ann Voskamp: Learn how to embrace a lifestyle of radical gratitude and love. This book is a reminder of how to LIVE OUT I Corinthians 13.

• LOVE of HOME. Organized Simplicity, by Tsh Oxenreider: Truths about intentional living and organization. This book is a gift of love wrapped up in practical tips and insights about daily living.

• LOVE of HOSPITALITY. The Reluctant Entertainer: My book shares about the gift of hospitality. I believe that you will experience LOVE in a greater way if you learn to give of yourselves to others.

• LOVE of APRONS. Wearing The Hip Hostess aprons inspires and reminds us to love our homes, our kitchens, our families, and our guests. As we “tie one on” we can love by being grateful for all of our blessings.

What part of I Corinthians 13 captures your heart?

  1. I love how it says Love keeps no record of wrongs. That’s so powerful! BTW, I LOVE all of these items. :)

  2. Love NEVER fails! Thankful for the perfect love of Jesus Christ!

  3. “Love always trusts” is something I’ve been holding onto lately.
You gals are so generous. Thank you all for the hugs across the miles through your giveaways.

  4. Love is patient.. An frequently needed reminder to slow down

  5. Love keeps no record of wrongs. How many times I need to remind myself of this one!

  6. Love keeps no record of wrongs…No “I told you so”s, no “you always/never…” Just forgiveness, pure and sweet.

  7. Love never fails!

  8. I’ve been thinking a lot about how love is not boastful or prideful. Why is it that we always think that we’re better than the person next to us? Lord, humble me in my position! And by the way, all of those books are on my reading list…and I don’t have any of them yet!

  9. Patient.
Someone once described it as llllloooonnnnggggg suffering. ;)

  10. A couple of things stick out to me from this passage. First, I can’t conjure up this agape love on my own; it’s definitely a gift from God. Secondly, it’s always active. And lastly, the specific attribute listed that I need to be reminded of most often is that of patience- that this particular meaning is in respect to dealing with {difficult} people.

  11. Love is not self seeking….that is the gift God gave me in how my husband loves me….he is so all about loving me. After a skewed family with abusive issues I never could have imagined that love could be like this…he truly reflects the Father’s love.

  12. *love believes all things, hopes all things*
i seem to be forever repeating this to my kids when they accuse one another of STUFF–knowing they likely have learned the habit of NOT looking for the best in others from ME.

  13. I tweeted this lovely giveaway.

  14. “Does not delight in evil.” That’s always been a grabber for me.

    What a kind giveaway!

  15. I also became a follower…

  16. I blogged about this lovely giveaway.

  17. This is a favorite passage of mine, too. It was read at my daughter’s wedding by my husband’s brother and truly reflected the joy and meaning of that day. My favorite lines are the last two… Love always perseveres and never fails.

  18. I love this verse. It’s one of my favorites. LOVE preservers!

  19. I have this set of verse in our master bedroom– not for dh, but for me! I need the reminder. Love does not keep a record of wrongs is a favorite! My husband is great at this– he forgives and it is over. Me, on the other hand need to be reminded!

    Thanks for a fun give-away.

  20. Love is not proud. Because it seems that many of the other attributes of love depend on humility. Being humble enough to slow down for another (patient), humble enough not to keep records of other’s wrongs. Humble enough to put others first (not self-seeking).

Thanks for the giveaway and the reminder of love’s attributes!

  21. I love how love keeps no record of wrongs and it always hopes. Wow…if I could erase that whole mental list of mine=)!!

Thank you for a great give-away!

  22. Love keeps no record of wrongs. I need to keep reminding myself of this one!

Thank you for a great give away!!

  23. Wow! Every word of I Cor. 13 captures my heart! Today, though, the “love is patient” part is jumping off the page! Yesterday was certainly lacking in the patience department on my part with my little guys. I’m printing this post out so I can meditate on it today as I try to be a more patient Mommy, and a happier wife when my hubby comes home! :) Thanks for a timely post!

  24. Love does not keep a record of wrongs, I remember things and mull over them and that can lead to holding grudges. Which I hate when other people do it and don’t like to admit I do it also. God is always so good to us. He is keeping a record, our names are in The Book of Life.

I would love to be entered in your giveaway, thank you for being so generous.

    God bless, Carolyn

  25. Love keeps no records of wrongs. With three young children, I must remind myself of this constantly.

Thank you so much for this opportunity — beautiful gifts!

  26. Isn’t LOVE’s very meaning represent so many hopes for our lives…especially in marriage, it challenges us to seek it’s true blessings.

  27. Love is not envy.

    Thank you!

  28. Love protects! Biggest lesson learned in my marriage. Thankful for the beautiful reminder!

  29. Love is kind. I have to keep that in the forefront of my mind. Also Love bears no record of wrongs. I have a son who is wandering and in my dealings with him, I must remember that. Grace for him, Grace for me! God is good.

  30. What a wonderful and generous giveaway. Thank you all! “Love Never Fails” reminds me that through my daily struggles as a mom, wife, friend, etc, His love is always there for me.

  31. “it keeps no record of wrongs” has been a big challenge for me this year as i’ve dealt with someone who said continually mean things to me time after time. it has been such a struggle to not keep a mental playlist in my head, but God has really been helping my heart soften toward this person.

thank you for the chance to win these wonderful gifts!

  32. Love is not easily angered: I have always been the one with the hot temper, the short fuse. I have to credit my husband and children for helping me learn and practice this most important tenet.

  33. Love is patient is the part that always resonates most with me. This is the very first bible passage I ever read as a lector when I was in fifth grade and have lectored many times since and has been a part of so many important celebrations in my life!

  34. “Love is not rude” – I think this is what I relate with. For, I can’t ever bring myself to be rude to anyone. And definitely not to someone I love. I am here the first time and like your blog a lot! :)
I am from India. No idea if this giveaway is for your readers outside US/Canada. Nevertheless, I have subscribed via email.

  35. Thank you for the reminder…May the Lord give us all “nudges” through the day to remind us:).

  36. I used the same verse earlier this week for a posting myself. Oh honesty – what part speaks to me.. Love keeps no records of wrongs. I struggle with this continually. I pray each day that God would help take this away!

thanks for chance to win! I won a copy of your book on Living Locurto and am eagerly awaiting it’s arrival!

  37. Love never fails!

  38. Love always protects!

  39. Each day, each moment my favorite part of the verse changes. Today the words Love Hopes is my favorite. When I struggle with a child’s behavior or with a shortcoming/sin in my life, I look to Him. Then there is peace.

    Thank you, Sandy.

  40. The verse was read at my wedding, which brings back such happy memories. It’s also a piece of art hanging in our bedroom. Reading it always seems like a wonderful goal, something to strive for. I’m currently reading One Thousand Gifts, so would definitely regift that on my blog if I were to win it! Have almost ordered Organized Simplicity more than once, so would be so pleased to win a copy! Thanks for sharing this today, it’s a beautiful post.

  41. Patience has been my big failure this year, and something I’m working on!

  42. Love is kind speaks to my heart!

  43. I posted your giveaway on my blog for that extra chance. ;-)

  44. Love perseveres! It’s worth fighting for!

  45. LOve is not Self Seeking….true love is selfless….as Christ loved us so should we love others. Selflessly. I retweeted you, facebooked you, and I follow you of course!

  46. Love is patient….. living with two teenage boys – this is my mantra mnay days!

  47. I always have to remind myself that love is patient.

  48. The entire passage speaks to me, but my favorite is and the greatest of these is love.

  49. Love keeps no record of wrongs…my favorite.

  50. I love it all, but the last line is probably the clincher on the whole thing for me.

  51. and…I’ll share on fb & twitter, too!

  52. Love keeps no record of wrong doing! We’re going to hurt and be hurt, but agape, Christ-like love forgive and forgets…holding no grudges! It’s easy to love when things are perfect, but true love is tested during hardships! I’m a follower now too!

  53. Love never fails! Enough said…

  54. I love the part about love protects!

  55. Love keeps no record of wrongs! LOVE it! :)

  56. As humans, we are incapable of demonstrating any of these by our own power…but, I know the One who is!

  57. Love keeps no records of wrongs. So important and yet sometimes difficult to do. So good to be reminded!

  58. Love NEVER fails. Powerful!

  59. Love keeps no record of wrongs! That one I need to remember!

  60. I tweeted about this… mommyp4

  61. Love never fails, thank the Lord!

  62. Love never fails! Even if we stumble on one of the other parts, and we all do, it’s still standing in the end!

  63. What strikes my heart in the center is how my heart does’t, on it’s own accord, want to do those things. IT is a constant choice to align my heart and soul with those principles and my Father knew I would need the gentle reminder of these words.

Thanks for a great giveaway, I know who ever the winner is, will be blessed beyond measure!

  65. Love hopes all things. With this love, one believes in someone, no matter what!

  66. “…it keeps no record of being wronged.” Reminds me not only that God has kept no record of my wrongs whenever condemnation tries to rise up, but also that I don’t have the right to keep a record of those who have wronged me, tempting as it may be! :-) Thanks ladies! What a sweet giveaway!

  67. I tweeted about this giveaway!

  68. I posted it to facebook too :)

  69. I FB’d this giveaway

  70. I blogged this giveaway

  71. Love is not self seeking. So true, and such the character of God!

  72. It’s hard to pinpoint one part that I love…the whole thing is so good, especially when read in the Message and Amplified versions.

  73. The one that always captures my attention is “Love is kind”. It seems to me, in love if we’re kind all the other things fall into place.

  74. I posted this on facebook.

  75. Lately it’s been, “Love is not rude.” I’ve been noticing myself ignoring this one and it’s not something I want to be acceptable in my life or our family.

    Thanks for the amazing giveaway!

  76. Love keeps no record of wrongs — such an important thing to remember in a marriage! It’s too easy to think “Hey! He didn’t take out the trash! Why should *I* pick his socks up?!?” ….and then the spite, fighting, and derision snowballs from there.

  77. Just tweeted about it! (@michellebygrace)

  78. The entire verse speaks to me. This was a very special part of our wedding.

  79. My favorite part is love is not self-seeking. The hardest one to remember. :(

    thanks :)

  81. I love the first description. “Patient”. So applicable for this stage of my life with 5 little ones to care for.

  82. Love keeps no record of wrongs…

When I re-married, a dear friend reminded me not to keep score. With children and an ex from a previous marriage, it is very easy to get caught up in scorekeeping or finger pointing. This does not do well for marriage.

Thank you for the gentle reminders. This is one I will print and carry with me.

  83. Love it kind- it sounds simple but it really takes work to be kind. To everyone. All the time. It takes grace!

  84. love keeps no record of wrongs.
it is a reminder to me to let go of the little things. i am very fortunate to have a wonderful husband but sometimes nit pick and lose sight of that.

  85. Love never fails. A good reminder when you’re a little short on faith.

  86. Hi there, I just came over and so glad I did. My favorite part of the verse is Love is patient; because I’ve been waiting for dear hubby to know my Lord for 31 yrs.

  89. I totally need the “love is patient” part… i need more of that!

  90. I just Linked this on my Casa del Kuchen Facebook page :)

  91. How generous of all of you. I love that “love is patient” and that it “never fails.” Sometimes it’s hard to remember both of those during long trials.

  92. Love always hopes…It reminds me that love never, ever gives up.

  93. I really try to focus on the “love keeps no record of wrongs”. I think many of us are too quick to remember past wrongs when disagreeing with our loved ones. The whole verse is pretty powerful.

PS. Just found your blog & I love it.

  94. The “always”, that makes me think. I’m not good with consistancy.

  95. “Love is kind.” He is kind and He teaches me to be…

  96. The “love keeps no record of wrongs” is such a powerful truth…one I am working on, by God’s grace.

  97. Love is not self seeking…having just entered year 3 of marriage, I have seen so many times over the past couple years when I am selfish and self-seeking in big and small ways. Thankful the Lord brings those to mind and helps me correct them.

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  98. “Love always protects”… My job as wife and mom is to provide a place of “protection” here at home. Calm, peaceful, safe. Yes, we bump heads and are normal sinful people, but under it all, my family knows they are loved beyond measure here.

  99. I tweeted and shared on FB!

  100. I tweeted about the giveaway, by RTing SimpleMom’s tweet! You’re mentioned in it

  101. PS _ just subscribed to your blog via RSS – been needing to!

  102. “Love rejoices with the truth” steals my breath. I have to first know -and believe- the truth in order to rejoice with it.

  103. Love keeping no records of wrongs floors me and grounds me all at once. It’s a principle that has gotten me and my family through a ton.

  104. ****”Love Always Perseveres” No matter what we go thru as long as we have love, we will never be weakened. Every person who has ever felt love knows its power! Especially when your husband drives you crazy! Love gets you through it!
    Facebooked it! {}
    Blogged it:

  106. Love is not self-seeking… and keeping no record of wrongs. /sigh\
I’m still working on those… but I love that love “always protects.” My husband does such a great job at that.

    Lovely giveaway!

  107. Love keeps no record of wrongs……I find this hard to practice sometimes and get hurt when others don’t. It is really good to focus on but so worthwhile! Just found your blog and am so glad I did! I do entertain reluctantly but would love to be a generous, open, fun host. Can’t wait to browse through your posts! Thank you!!

  109. I am a brand new follower — love the site!

  110. The whole verse captures my heart….it was read during my wedding ceremony!!

  111. and I did tweet about the givewaway, but I don’t see my comment about that on here…

  112. “Is not easily angered” this is a reminder needed on those days where nothing that either of us do seems right:0)

  113. In the words of the Message Bible, “I’m bankrupt without love.” Love of God, and love for others, His love for me, and others love for me. It’s all about love.

  114. My favorite part of this verse: Love always perseveres. If it were up to me, I’d give up on love every time something didn’t go my way. But this verse reminds us that just like God’s love, our love is to persevere despite any hardships.

  115. Goodness, every part of the passage is so full. Today, though, my heart is drawn to “Love Rejoices in the Truth,” and I’m specifically thinking of marriage. Even when moments are rough, there is always room for rejoicing because there is always the truth about what True love is (from Him) and what Real love looks like (Christ and the church).

(And I became subscriber for the first time today too!)

    Thanks for all you do,

  116. “it protects” there is never any competition. you are at peace.

you can be still & know that you are loved or feel it. it’s like a beautiful umbrella.

it seems in this busy busy world, the actions of going going going & doing doing doing, that with LOVE it’s just there to take & accept or feel.

    it’s FREE.

wonderful giveaway. – whoever wins – they will be be lucky to receive one of these amazing prizes!

  117. “Love never fails”

The entire verse was assigned to me to read at our wedding. My husband of 17 years as well as this scripture constantly demonstrate to me the truth of the scripture and what LOVE is about.

We’ve had our ups mostly, sprinkled with down times – but, like our Lord, Love has never failed us.

thank you for your generosity – a give to your readers – with Love!

  118. I tweeted about this giveaway as well.

  119. Love is kind. It’s so simple to just do what we have to do with kindness; if we just yield to the Lord. Such a small thing makes a huge difference in our everyday lives.
    I’m sharing on facebook.

  120. “Love is patient, love is kind…” I love my kids but sometimes I do not show these most basic expressions of what it truly means to love them with an agape love! Thanks for the reminder and I would love ANY of these books! I have subscribed to your RSS feed as well. =)

  121. “Love is not self-seeking.”

After the first couple years of marriage I realized how I was often seeking my own in the way I loved my husband. 13 years into marriage this is still a struggle for me, but so much easier now that I have my eyes open!

I also just recently subscribed to your RSS feed, will that count for 2 extra entries? :)

  122. @SandyCoughlinRE LOVE always protects – that’s the love for my child. LOVE always trusts – that’s the love for my hubby.

    I tweeted my answer!

  123. I love Ann Voscamp’s new book and can hardly put it down. If I won this give-away, I would give it away to our pastor’s wife. I really wish I could win about 15 or more to give away! Her book is amazing. I long to read it and re-read it.

  124. To risk putting myself out there, I am learning about how love does not easily anger. This year’s goals are focusing on simplifying my home and family’s activities to be more focused on what is really important. So each of these items falls in line with what I’m working on!

  125. Love NEVER fails.

  126. Love always perseveres. I think everyone can benefit from that.

  127. Love is PATIENT. It is NOT SELF SEEKING. As a homeschooling mom of 5 little ones and a Pastor’s wife, this has to be prayed for often!! I will be a new follower also! And post this on Facebook! Thank you!

  128. Love never fails! If we can just start there. Thanks

  129. Love never fails…Love it!

  130. Love is not selfish/self-serving. Only with His grace can I get over my “what about me” love I sometimes give.

  131. Love always protects. Convicts me of how I should speak.

  132. Love never fails. All we truly need is love and it will always do the trick. It may take awhile and it may come with some heartache, but it will never fail. Great post.

  133. I LOVE the whole passage but it keeps no record of wrongs is a wonderful reminder that I always need!

  134. Love is not easily angered (and the corresponding verse about love being patient). Need to keep this in mind with the littles and their messes! :-)

  135. Love is not easily angered…something I daily remind myself of with two little kids underfoot!

  136. Love is patient, kind,, doesn’t keep record…

  137. what stands out to me is the part… it does not dishonor others. That is easier to do when concerning family, friends, coworkers, but not so easy when we are surrounded by people who dishonor the name of our God or of us as a people because we are Christians. My flesh wants to fight back calling them names, it angers my spirit, I want to bring them down to size when they seem so puffed up in their beliefs. Our God doesn’t want us to dishonor them as we stand for our beliefs. I feel this is the hardest one for me to obey and learn to live. That and the people talking on cell phones that can’t drive right! I am REALLY supposed to honor them, THEM?

  138. I am captivated by ALWAYS. Love always does. I am warmed, and yet vulnerable, when I lean hard into my husband’s love and trust the ALWAYS. I’m challenged by God’s I WILL…ALWAYS. Who can doubt God? But still I do.

  139. “Love never fails…”

I remember being a teenager and reading in one of John’s letters that “God is Love.” Then I read this chapter in Corinthians that tell us what Love… that’s when I began to understand more about who God is and what He is like… and this is how we are supposed to live…

  140. Love: as little girls we are captivated by it. As young women we are sometimes disallusioned by it. When it comes to my Savior, I am redemmed by it. The love in 1 Corinthians 13 that truly captures my heart is the simple phrase, “Love never fails.” So much of life is failure. That is why redmeption is so sweet. His unfailing love, overflowing, and wrapping around me. Is there anything more precious and captivating than that wonderful truth?

  141. I guess the words that jump out at me is that Love always HOPES.

This world is very much in a hopeless state…without God.

God brings us hope through Jesus Christ. And this hope is not like the world’s, it is an expectation…knowing it’s going to happen.

I hope in my LORD. He loves me unconditionally. He give me hope.

  142. … never fails. <3

  143. Love keeps no records of wrongs is the one that speaks loudest to me now. For a long time I held a grudge against my brother for various “wrongs” and we didn’t speak for years. However, love has gotten through and we now speak and actually enjoy each other’s company.

  144. Love – is so opposite of my sinful human nature! Love – patient, kind, not easily angered, keeps no record of wrongs, always hopes, trusts, perseveres . . . (thinking of my reaction to my husband yesterday) me – impatient, instantly angry, unkind, remembering past behavior, losing hope, giving up…). I really need to put this on my frig also! So thankful for our God of patience :)

  145. Love never fails — I’ve clung to that for so long in a marriage where love has died.
Love is not self-seeking — ouch, my eyes have been so focused on my needs, what I need from him. Time to journal about that one.
    Thank you!

  146. Love keeps no record of wrongs. True love forgives, truly.

  147. Love is kind . . . oh, to be always kind. This passage often comes to mind when I most need it! Blessings for the giveaway!

  148. Just signed up to receive your blog in my e-mail!

  149. Love always perseveres

    Part of Speech: verb
    Definition: keep at; work hard
Synonyms: be determined, be resolved, be stubborn, carry on, continue, endure, go for broke, go for it, go on, hang in, hang tough, hold fast, hold on, keep driving, keep going, keep on, leave no stone unturned, maintain, persist, plug away, press on, proceed, pursue, remain, see it through, stand firm, stay the course, stick with it

All the synonyms describe the Love God has for us! ! He continues to seek us out to love Him.
It is also true of the relationship I have with my husband. Love is Hard Work! It’s a job – that lasts a lifetime (and for God…one that lasts an eternity)

  150. Love never fails.

  151. Love is kind.

  152. No record of wrongs….. So thankful for God’s mercy! I have already begun Ann’s book, but would LOVE either of the other 2. They both address areas where I struggle. The apron is precious, as well. Thanks!

  153. I just subscribed through email! Thanks!

  154. I love that “love rejoices in the truth”! Because the truth sets us free- love away, ladies!

  155. I spread the giveaway love via Facebook! Thanks!

  156. love never fails. i think that everything else listed can go wrong in a relationship but the simple fact that love will never fail is reason enough to keep it alive!!

  157. “Love keeps no record of wrongs.”

I’m a pretty good scorekeeper and I need to hear this…OFTEN.

  158. LOVE never fails…..thank you Lord! Blessing!

  159. Keeps no record of wrongs. I have prayed over this part of the verse often. It helps me to forgive others and to also forgive myself. It is so freeing!

  160. I think the part that currently captures my heart is “Love always hopes.” With life circumstances and all we hear going on around us, it’s hard sometimes to keep that hope forefront in our hearts and minds. To know that Love hopes is such a challenge and a blessing. God, who is love, always hopes. We must too, always hope.

    Yay for give-aways!

  161. the greatest of these is charity

  162. Love keeps no record of wrongs.

  163. I don’t know if I’ll ever get past “love is patient”. That stops me in my tracks every time. When I was about to go into labor with my second child(literally, about and hour and a half before), God spoke to me about patience during my quiet time. I looked the meaning up and found:

Patience is the state of endurance under difficult circumstances, which can mean persevering in the face of delay or provocation WITHOUT acting on annoyance/anger in a negative way; or exhibiting forbearance when under strain, especially when faced with longer-term difficulties. Patience is the level of endurance one’s character can take before negativity. It is also used to refer to the character trait of being steadfast.

God spoke so much, but I don’t want to make a blog post out of a comment. Thanks for the opportunity to share a little of our hearts here!

  164. “love is not easily angered….” oh that’s been speaking to me lately….and the “patient” part too.
A certain lovely little 3 year old is discovering new & exciting ways to keep his mama on her toes….
Which leads me directly to “love is not self-seeking” because then I feel the need to point out all the good I HAVE done because that certain someone has used up every. last. ounce. of. me.
Love (Jesus)never fails & I’m so very thankful.

  165. “love is patient”. I needed to remind myself of that when I was frustrated with my kids this morning.

  166. I liked your link on Facebook and alos signed up for the RSS feeds. My daughter just introduced me to your site. I think it is going to be very helpful.
I had already added my comment concerning 1 Cor. 13

  167. Love never fails.

  168. Just became a follower of RE, love your blog and book.

  169. Love *is*
    Not was.
And what we find later in the chapter….”and the greatest of these is LOVE.”

Thanks ladies for sharing the love!!!

  170. Love keeps no record of wrongs. But, I do! Ever I am failing…being reminded of things that I hold against people. Then, I am reminded of grace….I will not love perfectly. He IS perfect love. He holds no record of wrongs…thank You, Jesus. May I be more like you with every passing day…letting go and loving with the grace that You have lavished on me!!

  171. Lover never fails. Knowing that God loves me no matter how much I fail keeps me going day after day, and is a great reminder of how I respond and react to my own kids.

  172. Right now, the parts about not boasting or being proud are most on my heart. It’s all to easy to tear others down, especially with our lives on display through avenues like facebook and blogs. Thanks for the opportunity to win!

  173. I’m a first time subscriber via google reader. Loved your post on simple mom today!

  174. Love NEVER fails!

  175. Love…isn’t that what it is all about? Love of your husband, your children, God. If you don’t have love what do you have?

  176. Love suffers long . . . this is the “behind the scenes” of a good marriage –

  177. I’m currently working on “Love is patient.” I put my name in and say, “Kelly is patient.”

  178. For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

This. Because that’s what heaven will be like.

  179. Love never fails…great giveaway!

  180. Love is not proud, it is not self-seeking.

    What a great giveaway!

  181. Since i am cureently working through Beth Moore’s Daniel study (a.k.a. Learning about Babylon and identifying our modern day Babylon)
    Love does not Envy…
oh how many times, in the world we live in, I have to remind myself of this.
    Fun give-away!!

  182. Love is kind…it captures how I want my heart to respond. Thanks for the fun giveaway!!!

  183. I just tweeted about your giveaway too!

  184. Love NEVER fails. (Even though we do.)

  185. Love does not boast. Learning to only boast in the grace of God!

  186. #2 I am a subscriber!

  187. Love Never Fails, Amen? Praise the LORD for that!

I am so excited about this giveaway – what a blessing!

  188. I subscribed to your feed!

  189. I am also posting this giveaway on Facebook!

  190. Here’s my second chance for subscribing!

  191. Love keeps no record of wrongs……

  192. The part that gets me is that “Love keeps no record of wrongs.” This is sooooooo important in my life! My husband and I keep VERY short records, soI feel safe in our relationship to make mistakes and learn and grow. I also need that short record in my classroom on a daily basis–some students need my extra effort to forget. :)

  193. 2nd chance to win…. posted on FB

  194. I am sharing this link on my Facebook page, too. Great stuff–thanks, ladies!

  195. “Love keeps no record of wrongs. My husband is much better at this than I am, although be both try to do this with the Lords help

  196. Love delights in the truth! But I change my mind depending on my mood. :)

  197. Love perseveres. Love never fails.

No matter what we go through in life or our relationships, love perseveres. It’s an action verb. A decision and a commitment. It’s a covenant sealed by God. It’s the arms around you when the whole world seems to be falling apart around you. It’s the assurance when things don’t go as smoothly or perfectly as we’d like, there is still someone who L.O.V.E.S you.

And isn’t that what really matters at the end of the day?

In that knowledge and assurance the tingly, happy, warm feelings flow.

  198. wow, all of it captures me … but for today, keeping no record of wrongs hits home.

  199. Love is kind! I certainly think all are important, but how wonderful is it to *just* be kind.

I am reading Tsh’s book now. It is so awesome and life changing!

  200. I have a cross with that scripture engraved on it.

    Love protects.

  201. Love Never Fails!!!! That is all it takes. Love, Love, Love – no matter what!

  202. Love keeps no record of wrongs. Just so powerful…because usually we remember things people did wrong, even when we say we’ve forgiven them or we’ve chosen not to confront them. It’s a really powerful and beautiful concept.

  203. And I’ve become a new follower on your RSS feed. :)

  204. The verse that touches me the most is 1 Corinthians 13:7!!

  205. Love always ENDURES! I consistently find hope that loving on is exactly the love Christ gives me and now I in response give that to others!

  206. And I put it on facebook. :)

  207. I so love “Love never fails.” What a deep, deep comfort for me. For us.

  208. I just put it as my FB status. :)

  209. Just added RE to my google reader. :)

  210. Without Love, I am (at best) a clanging cymbal!

  211. Oh dear, patience and kindness in my home are glaring weaknesses of mine in my home which makes me cringe because elsewhere I would never dream of being impatient or rude or unkind…. sigh… glad it is God who is working in and through me.

  212. I’m giving a talk in church this Sunday, & as I’ve been preparing I just found a quote that relates so well to love not keeping a record of wrongs. Once we’ve fully repented of our sins, “I, the Lord, remember them no more,” so why do we all insist on dredging them up for one another?

  213. (P.S.: New subscriber!)

  214. Love never fails. The reminder that Love is Who and not what I do. Love is He who first loved us, and He is always in the process of making us His. The more fully we are His, the more totally we love. I fail those I love. Those I love fail me. But Love never fails. I am so thankfully undone by this. Thank you, Love, for making us Yours.

  215. Love always trusts.

  216. LOVE… Love never fails because it comes from God.

    Thanks for the giveaway.

  217. I love the part about keeping no record of wrongs.

  218. I also subscribe to your RSS feed!

  219. Love Never Fails!! What a wonderful gift to know God’s love never fails and with his love I am better able to love.

  220. I twitted this great giveaway :)

    Thanks again.

  221. Love Perseveres captures my heart because it reminds me that love is not supposed to be always easy and that when it is not easy it does not mean that something is wrong.

  222. Sandy –

Thank you for this simple reminder.

I think what struck me the most is: Love does not delight in evil.

I would love to win your book – Reluctant Entertainer!

  223. Sandy –

I have signed up for your email.

  224. Love is not easily angered – I could use that reminder right about now!

  225. The part of that scripture that is so comforting to me is “love keeps no record of wrongs.” Just discovered your blog, by the way, and made copies of your ten commandments of hospitality and took them to our Bible study for the ladies. Love your blog and your encouragement to us to be hospitable!

  226. I might fail at the rest….no matter how hard I try to live all the others, I at least nurture my HOPE that one day…I can come from a place of love, every minute, of every day.

  227. I love that it is a list of concrete, specific things to do.

  228. Love keeps no record of wrongs.

  229. The part that says ,”Love is not self-seeking.”… This seems to be the re-run that I can’t change the channel from. It is always staring me in the face, when I turn around … I think that when this battle is truly overcome, then love is truly present!! And now I feel silly because I am seeking for myself to win. well, God’s will.

  230. Love is patient and …is not easily angered , as a mother of three how often do I have to remind myself of this ? Every morning, as the rising sun tints my window and God reminds me of His love.

  231. Love is kind. It seems like everyday I am confronted with the choice to embrace my family and the world with kindness or a bad attitude. I can choose to spread kindness or my grumpiness. The world is better with kindness spread around …

  232. Love never gives up. That is what I want to be like to unconditionally love people.

  233. I just came across a copy of this verse the other day that my Mother had done in caligraphy. I lost her in 2006 to Ovarian Cancer. I put the verse that she had done on my refrigerator. It is so special. It not only reminds me of God’s love, but of how my Mother fleshed out His love to her family.

  234. I am a new subscriber!

  235. Well first off, I really love the whole of this. It’s so powerful, telling us what really is LOVE. And aren’t these true? And as I tried to think of what my most favorite part was, I got stuck on LOVE NEVER FAILS. If love never fails, then love will be patient. If love never fails, it will be kind. And so on. It won’t fail, it won’t take second place or fall out of line. Love is it, it is all encompassing and what we all need.

  236. I just posted the giveaway on my Facebook status!

  237. Love is patient. My husband is always so patient with me. I don’t deserve such a wonderful man.

  243. I facebooked about this giveaway

  244. Love always HOPES! Beautiful passage & reminder, Thanks Sandy & friends!!
    I hope I win..ha ha

  245. I retweeted this one. Fingers crossed that I win.

  246. Love keeps no record of wrongs. If the Lord extends grace and mercy to us, we should extend the same measure of grace and forgiveness to others. Although, it is easier said than done most times. It is much easier to do when our mind stays focused on Him rather than focus on our woundedness. I would love to win a copy of the books. I am on a suuupppeerrrr long waiting list at the library for all tree books. Ha! Thanks for your generosity.

  247. Knowing that the one constant, in all of being, no matter how bleak, difficult, stupid or painful the event, is the unfailing love of God. And to know that I, even I can choose not only to receive but to apply this balm of love to others, disarming any offense, is a peaceful power that gives rest to my soul.

  248. In one of the books I am currently reading it asked us to do an experiment with 1 Corinthians 13. In place of the word “love” you were to put your name and see if you could actually say that about yourself. Wow! That is a real eye opener and something to put where you will see it and be reminded of it daily.

  249. 2 parts of 1 Cor. 13 speak deeply to me: “Love is patient, love is kind…” I need more of that! And I love the part about one day knowing just as I am known–that God knows me deeply, and one day I can know Him in the same face-to-face manner He knows me. I can’t wait!

  250. I *love* all of 1 Corinthians 13, but verse 7 always catches my attention: “It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” Love from God and of God is ALWAYS. How amazing.

Thank you for the kindness and love here!

  251. Been having some horrible days lately and it was a delight to see this post about love in my inbox… Thank you Sandy.
What captures my heart is the line “love does not delight in evil”….

  252. Love always Hopes! Never giving up on a person or a situation because with God we Always have hope. Hope in our future. Hope for the lost. Hope for the hurting. Thanks for breaking it down! I need to spend time in 1 Corinthians 13!

  253. What touches and captures my heart most is that this Love is a portrait of God. This is His heart for me! His love creates His heart IN me so I can love, too. It is most amazing and humbling.

  254. Shared on Facebook – definitely worth sharing even without the prizes!

  255. Love does not seek its own….. My children (all 8 of them) and I are discussing this passage just now during our morning worship time. I expect we will be in this passage for a long time. So few words, but so ripe with applications, implications and expectations. We all seek our own; it’s part of our selfish nature. Dying to our ugly selves, now that is truly only possible through God’s grace through being conformed into the image of His Son.
Thank you for the giveaway…. we all have an awful lot more dying to do around here, and I could certainly use some encouragement and helps.
    Blessings to you.

  256. Love keeps no record of wrongs! This has been an invaluable key to being successfully happy in my marriage. :)

  257. I posted about your giveaway on my facebook profile

  258. I also tweeted about the giveaway :)

  260. Love is patient and not easily angered is the one that grabs me right now. I just reread this passage yesterday (I have it on my dining room wall) and was sorely convicted as I raise up my 5 and 7 year old. I appreciate all three of you so much!

  261. Even when other things, people, situations do, love never fails.
Thank you, Lord, that you are always the same.

  262. The part that stands out to me is, Love always perseveres. God has strengthened me to persevere through a lot over the years, and my husband has persevered with me, when I didn’t think I could. Real love is a gift from God.

  263. Love is kind. Such simple words that mean so much.

  264. Love always trusts. Its one God is working deep in my heart right now.

  265. I love that it “keeps no record of wrong”! I have a hard time not holding grudge & forgiving someone after they hurt me. I can’t fathom that no matter WHAT we have done, when we ask for forgiveness Christ wipes the slate clean! He remembers no wrong!

  266. It keeps no record of wrongs. So hard for me to live up to in this life. True forgiveness, not necessarily forgetting, but not recounting all of the wrongs. Would enjoy all of these items!!

  269. “Love always hopes.”
Oh how we need hope in this world. I look around and see so many friends hope…less. Love provides the “more” needed to cancel out the “less”. Love becomes that glimmer of light in a world that seems so very dark. When someone loves a hopeless soul, the voices of hopelessness pause, even for just a split second for them to hear “Okay, if someone cares, then maybe this will be okay.” Love always hopes… and provides hope. This is the section that speaks most to me and is often my reason for wanting to pour love into the lives of people around me… because we all need hope.

  276. What I love about these verses is that they point out how intentional love is. It goes against our sinful nature in every way. Yet, at the same time, it flows from our souls. Loving someone shows the face of Jesus to others.

  278. Love is patient….as a homeschooling mother of 4, I need to keep that always at the forfront of my heart.
I am named for I Cor 13 – my mother was reading this passage in the hospital after I was born. She called my dad and said “Let’s name her Charity”, and they did!
So when my first daughter was born, I gave her the middle name “Love”. This passage is very much a part of our lives :)

  281. “Love is not easily angered…”
I guess love is the answer, even to my irritability.

  282. What part of I Corinthians 13 captures your heart?

It has always been the part of love being patient, and suffering long. Oh how I want to never grow weary of loving, even when it is hard and I pray that God will give me this kind of love for all people…even those who feel hard to love sometimes.

  283. Love is patient. Sometimes you just have to take a deep breath and move on.
BTW, love the apron – got one for Christmas from my kids after I saw it on your site.

  284. Had you asked the same question a couple weeks ago, my answer would be different. I think what captures my heart changes with life’s stages and circumstances. Thankfully HIS love never changes despite what I’M thinking or perceiving. With what’s going on in my life right now, I’m thankful for His promises that love always hopes, protects and perseveres.

  285. Love: Is not Self-seeking.. Wow this is huge…Taking the “I’s” out of the way so my hearts “Eye’s” can see…I find it hard sometimes to see the “Thee’s” for the “Me’s”.

  286. Love NEVER fails!!!!

  287. What speaks most to me out of this chapter is…Love keeps no record of wrong.

  288. I just subscribed to your feed through google reader!

  289. I’ve tweeted (springjoys) about this giveaway

  290. Oh boy, oh boy. I have to pick just one? Hmmmm… It changes as often as I do, growing, learning, loving more, sometimes less. I think, in this case, I’ll have to say perseveres. God’ s loving grace perseveres with me, and mine must do the same with others.

This verse still hangs on my closet door in my childhood bedroom.

  291. Love never fails – wow, an incredible promise!

  292. It depends on the time in my life…right now “Love keeps no records of wrong” is what God is working on in my heart.

  293. I’ve begun to follow your blog, and I have already loved the posts I’ve just read. Thank you!

  294. (Am I suppose to comment twice for the second entry? I wasn’t sure.)

  295. I think the part that shouts the loudest to me is “keeps no record of wrongs”. Recently by God’s grace I overcame a hurt inflicted upon me several years ago. God just filled me up with love and compassion for that person and washed away the memory of the hurts.

  296. I tweeted this great giveaway as @TheSimpleHome. Twice actually. :) It’s such a great giveaway!

  297. patience…..I shared this link with my fb friends.

  300. Isn’t first Corinthians 13 beautiful. Each phrase speaks to me but Love perseveres seems to sum it all up for me. What a great giveaway. Thanks a bunch!!!!

  301. I “liked” you on Facebook and posted this giveaway on my wall.

  302. Love always protects. This has really been on my heart lately in a new way. Love protects in obvious ways, but I think it also protects with words. The way we talk about other, build others up (especially our parents, husbands, kids), encourage them. Not that we have to pretend everyone is perfect, but be aware that we are protecting others’ integrity with what we say about them. It seems all aspects of love cover one another, and practicing one naturally brings out the others.

  303. I announced The Fab Four Giveaway on my Facebook page.

Now I must get back to real life, but thanks for this wonderful giveaway! People are really talking about these books, and with times so tight, it is very caring of you ladies to be giving them away.

  304. is not self-seeking … I always knew I had a self-centered bent, but since marrying 7 months ago, I see it all. the. more. Enough said.

  305. I also signed up for your RSS feed. Thanks for the extra opportunity.

  306. Love is not self-seeking. What a good reminder to put others before myself.

  307. Started following your RSS feed. Why haven’t I done that before?

  308. 2nd entry for following your blog with RSS feed

  309. Oh wow! This entire passage has been speaking to me this past year. I just had my first child, and the Lord is teaching me A LOT about love as a mother, a wife, and His daughter. For this week, the part of this verse that most speaks to me is “Love…keeps no record of wrongs.” I need to forgive (and I suppose this goes on “Love…always hopes”) and look forward with great joy.

  310. I easily get hung up right from the beginning, “Love is patient”, because this is the one that grabs my heart and squeezes with conviction. I am not patient, and while I ‘like’ all the rest of it, I need to truly start at the beginning and work on cultivating patience…

  311. Second entry for posting on FB…

  312. “Love is kind” challenges my heart. I am often the least kind to those I should love the most, and I beg the Lord to change me.

I’d love to read one of the books. :)

  313. Added to the RSS feeder…

  314. “Love keeps no record of wrongs.” What a powerful promise and an awesome responsibility! So often I want forgiveness and grace from the Father, but I withhold it from those closest to me. Love says to let go and bestow grace just as I’ve been given it. What a beautiful challenge to be more like the One who made us!

  315. Love is not self-serving.

  316. I love the part where it keeps no record of wrongs and never fails!

  317. And I am a new subscriber via rss!

  318. Love never fails!! It reminds me that Jesus is love and He has a perfect plan for my life. His ways are higher than mine and His love never fails!!!

  319. Love is patient. I too love this passage.

  320. How to pick one part? Love perseveres and never gives up would have to be the part that’s speaking to me most at this moment in my life.

  321. Love keeps no record of wrongs!! Thank God that I don’t have to worry that when I ask for forgiveness, I don’t have to sit and wait while my “record of past wrongs” is sited to me! Forgiveness and grace … so need it and so need to offer it more in return!

  322. Love always hopes: no matter what awful things happen, no matter how dark the night… amazing that hoping is not selfish, but the opposite!

  331. We are getting close to celebrating 25 years of marriage. I think love keeps no record of wrongs. There is a lot of water under the bridge in all this time and I want to keep it that way…flowing away from us and not over us with keeping an account.

  332. Love keeps no record of wrongs. This can be so liberating and sometimes for me the hardest to follow!

  333. Love is not rude
I am many times rude – even is speaking the truth – and it hurts people.

  336. Love always hopes…

Also, I love this passage in the Message:

    Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have.
    Love doesn’t strut,
    Doesn’t have a swelled head,
    Doesn’t force itself on others,
    Isn’t always “me first,”
    Doesn’t fly off the handle,
Doesn’t keep score of the sins of others,
    Doesn’t revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
    Puts up with anything,
    Trusts God always,
    Always looks for the best,
    Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end.

  337. Love always protects…doesn’t expose the faults or sins of others but covers over them.

  338. Love always perseveres…never stopping, no matter what the response or mood or situation around us. It just keeps going, knowing and trusting that the Author of Love will bring to completion the good He has planned.

  342. Love keeps no record of wrongs! That is so NOT like me. To clean the slate every time I am wronged requires more grace than I possess, so I must depend on God’s love to enable me to do it. And I am SO thankful that God grants me a clean slate.

  343. “it is not self-seeking”
so often in my relationships I am seeking self fulfillment and not focusing on how to GIVE love.

  344. Love always hopes. When all seems list and life is sweeping out of control, love hopes.

  345. My kids and I are memorizing these verses and are learning to be doers of His Word! I’m learning to be patient and kind as I home school. Why is that so hard in those moments when they are struggling to understand something? My kids NEED my patience and kindness most in these moments!

  346. It’s the “always” phrases that catch my attention every time. HE is always, always–even when I’m sometimes, most times or even rarely.

  347. Love Never Fails!

  348. Love is kind-I have an upcoming blog post on kindness for Valentine’s Day.

  352. I am a new subscriber! I picked up your book at the library, and I’ve been meaning to check out your blog. So glad that Ann sent me on over!

  353. Keeps no record of wrongs. Forgiveness is required…forgetting is impossible…without the Grace He offers.

  354. I just got this in an email from my mom and now here it is again. God always knows what we need! This passage deserves a place of prominence in every home and is a perfect example of how we should conduct our lives.

  355. Love Never Fails!
    Love & Hugs,

  356. Love (GOD) keeps no record of wrongs – that is us. God remembers our sins no more. It is overwhelming to me that the memories of wrong doings are mine alone. God has wiped the slate clean. To God be the glory!

  357. What God spoke to me about today when reading this passage is the “Nevers” and “Always” of love…never boasts, always perseveres, etc. All is good and positive when residing in godly love.

  358. …LOVE never fails….geeze, the entire passage convicts my heart, moves my heart and causes me to pause with each precious character of LOVE. I am not LOVE…I want to be, but I fall so very short and find myself picking up the pieces of my thoughts, words…deeds…that have fallen short of LOVE. I want to LOVE with all my heart and my soul. I want to LOVE everyone around me…the unLOVEable, myself…and yet I fall short…..yet…PRAISE JESUS!!!!…LOVE NEVER FAILS!!!!!

  359. “If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.” Sometimes I want so badly to evangelize other people but I find I am following my agenda, not God’s. As St. Francis of Assisi said, “Preach the Gospel at all times and when necessary, use words.” LIVING the Gospel is the most important thing.

    Thank you for listening.

  360. I’ve been thinking about that chapter of scripture and, this time, I think I am impressed at the thought that all else fails, but love. Amazing! Every other wonderful thing we know is empty without love; that helps me to try to put heart into everything I do.

  361. love always hopes…..

  362. Keeps no record of wrongs. I have an accountant mind…having trouble erasing those wrongs. Unforgiveness is a favorite sin of mine. God is faithful and forgiving. Praise His wonderful name!

  363. I posted this on my FB.

  364. I also signed up via RSS Feed.

  365. Love is patient. How many times daily do I let impatience prevent me from receiving or showing love?

  366. Love is not self seeking really speaks to my heart. Because that’s what I struggle with. I have to remember that I can not produce love on my own. Only the Holy Spirit can produce it in me and all I have to do is have faith that He will. Faith is the Key. Without faith, we have nothing.

  367. I shared your giveaway on Facebook!

  368. Love is not self-seeking. It keeps me “others” focused and helps me to always remember that loving others is the way to flesh out Christ’s love for us.

  369. “keeps no record of wrongs” – so very important

Thanks for the chance to win one of these wonderful books.

  370. I think what stood out for me is Love Protects.

    I’m sort of pondering that.

I haven’t really thought much about it. Protects, is there near the end, and all of the big concepts are out in front. I’m just thinking about what it is to love, and what it is to protect. I think I could do better with this in the Christian sense. Of course my children are protected, but am I loving and protecting others?

Thanks for making me think about that! LOVE the LOVE graphic!

  371. I subscribed! Thank you!

  372. Love never fails… AND it keeps no record of the many times when I fail!

  373. Love is not easily provoked.

  374. I struggle the most with trust. This post was a good reminder! Thank you!

  375. I am a new subscriber!

  376. Love is patient…it’s the part I struggle with the most.

  377. Love is not self-seeking! That gets me every time!
I want to do things the way *I* want to do them and don’t like my plans messed up!

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  378. Love always protects, so thankful for the protection of my heavenly Father and the sweet protection my husband provides.

  379. Love is patient.

  380. “If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.” ~If I understand nothing else in the Bible but to LOVE the Lord, and to LOVE my neighbor as myself, then I know I will have lived a full life, nothing lacking.

Just subscribed, posted on my FB wall. Thanks! KC

  381. keeps no record of wrongs..ugh I need that reminder daily! and so thankful for it at the same time!

  382. love keeps no record of wrongs. hard to do…

  383. Love is not self-seeking. Everyday I have to choose to set myself aside and follow His ways. I’m thankful that love is a fruit of the spirit and His spirit makes it possible for me to do that — I don’t have to do it on my own. God is sooooooo good!

  384. My favorite part of 1 Cor 13–vs. 3 “And if I give ALL my possessions to feed the poor, and if I deliver my body to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me NOTHING.” Without Christ’s love flowing through me to others, everything I give up or sacrifice is in vain.

  385. I just subscribed to ER email for the first time, and I shared this on facebook. Thanks!

  386. Love always hopes. I signed up to receive your blog via e-mail. Loving your book–hubby loved the Mexican Flan cake.

  387. Love never fails…what assurance in a world where sooner or later everything will fail, I rest knowing that Jesus-who IS love- never fails…ahhhh..thank You, Jesus! I would love to win one of these lovely prizes…count me in, please :) and thanks!!

  388. l♥ve keeps no record of wrong…

  389. i signed up first time :)

  390. I need to remind myself to be more thankful for the things I have and then I realize I really should not complain.

  391. “Love never fails.” Hmmm…in a world where everything seems to be changing and shifting, it is hard to find something that truly lasts, something that never fails. LOVE NEVER FAILS. I’m broken and thankful.

  392. Hmm .. it’s not going to be an easy answer. Love covers all … and without love, everything is not matter. So I guess the part I like about I Corinthians 13 is “love never fails”. It’s just such a beautiful verses and so true!

  393. Not sure what is RSS is but I am a subscriber via email .. does it count still? Thanks again for letting me enter this giveaway!

  394. Not easily angered….how I wish that was me. I really like how this passage says what love is – so positive. Thanks for hosting such a nice give away. The gifts are all lovely!

  395. Love is not self seeking. I think that sums up the rest of the passage!

  396. I like the way you have the passage displayed on the fridge. Did you buy that somewhere? It would look nice framed, I’m thinking for my teen’s bedroom. Thanks.

  397. Thanks for the reminder that this agape love is the bedrock of everything else we do! I, too, like the way the passage is displayed and would like to duplicate. :)Thanks!

  398. Am reading Ann’s book – lots to think about.
Would love to read the others!

  399. I love that is says that love doesn’t boast.

What a great idea for a giveaway!

  400. Love that always perseveres, even when I drift away, He still loves me…even when I am ugly, He still loves me…

  401. Love “never fails”. No matter what, love always wins, even when you can’t always see it from your vantage point. When you have tried everything else and it has failed, love never fails.

  402. …not in part but the whole… All of those verses remind me that ONLY GOD in me, can
    accomplish His work, His purpose…LOVE.

  403. “Love is not… self-seeking”; or, in the ESV, it does not insist on its own way. If I am not patient, not kind; if I am envying or boasting, etc., I am loving myself and insisting on my own way. God kindly shows me so often that I am usually (always?) focused on just me.

Thank you for this great reminder, and for the opportunity to enter the contest!

  404. I memorized this chapter as a child in my church Missionettes program and it’s a wonderful reminder for every day. I really love the first three verses – if I do all kinds of wonderful things, but do them without love, they really mean nothing. Definitely fitting for the theme of hospitality – I need to always remember that my purpose is to have and show love to others.

  405. …is not easily angered….always hopes….

  406. Working daily on the “Love is patient” part. I was thinking not too many days ago that if I struggle with patience to my children, how much more must God be patient with ME day in/day out?

  407. Love is not easily angered…

    Blessings to you all!

  408. Perseveres . . . struggling to do that. Wanting to do that so badly. So badly doing that. Thankfully, there’s Jesus.

  409. I am often reminded of this verse when I lose my temper….Love is not easily angered. So convicting.

  410. Love always trusts.

  411. Love always hopes! Hope is such a powerful emotion and I love that love and hope are tied, I am not sure you can have one without the other.

  412. What I recently discovered through a Bible study on this passage is that I Corinthians 13 is a chapter describing mature christian love. Love that is a verb. All the characteristics listed are verbs acted out on behalf of others. Immature love is a noun, wanting the action on behalf of ourselves. I think that is way that part that talks about when I was a child, a spoke like a child and acted like a child ( Love as a noun toward myself), but when I become a man, I put away childish things. ( Love as a verb toward others). It was so life changing for me :) !

    In Him,

  413. Love always hopes! This whole passage is both encouraging and convicting. Thanks for hosting this giveaway :)

  414. My favorite is Love Always Perseveres

  415. I did subscribe today.

  416. Love = actions.

  417. Love is not self-seeking. I am selfish, love is not. When love dwells within me, I place others above myself.

  418. Love is not self seeking….takes me to my core

  419. I just found your site today. I love it! I feel like the whole Love Chapter speaks to me right now. I have had one of the most painful years of my life, and the part that I guess I need to hold onto and embrace is that Love does not keep a record. Thanks for using your gifts to bless others!

  420. Hopes all things. My Dad has told me over and over that true love is: “Giving of yourself, to another, with the hope of a better relationship to come.”

  421. Love is not self-seeking. If I could get this one, it would help me with all the rest in this passage. Thank you for this opportunity!

  422. My first time on your site…. glad I stumbled here! “Love is not self-seeking.” It’s too easy to demonstrate “love” looking for favors in return (“you scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours”). This verse tells me that true love has a simple goal. Blessing the other person, content to receive NOTHING in return. No strings attached. Great lesson for this newlywed! :)

Posted on Facebook for another chance to win….. but most of all, just grateful for the incentive to stop and think about something so worthwhile! Thanks!

  423. Love is not self-seeking.

I am SO selfish and the older I get the more that smacks me in the face. Christ is the opposite of self-seeking. Love is as well.

I so desire to be selfless.

  424. Love is not proud…my eyes are seeing more of what humility should look like in me, so now I see Love IS Humility or Humility is love- no matter which way I look at it.

    The giveaways look great! THANKS!

  425. And I tweeted about this post/giveaway.

    Thank you!

  426. Love protects. This helps me remember that the opposite of love is not hate but fear. Love protects our hearts from fear. I get the image of staying under God’s wing when I think of this part of the scripture.

  427. I added RE to my RSS feed.

  428. How to pick a favorite? Love is KIND. It feels so good to be kind and yet I don’t always make the extra effort. And, of course, love never fails.

  429. I’m following you on Twitter now — @nottobrag

  430. The first three verses – I find myself busy, busy, busy trying to be a great wife, mom, homemaker. . . But my attitude can really stink sometimes. It doesn’t take long for me to see the real state of my marriage, kids, and home. I can be “doing it all,” but if I’m doing it all without love – without a loving spirit – it is all for naught. My family (and God) would rather have less of the doing and more of the loving.

    *Posted to blog. :)

    **New subscriber. :)

  431. The entire passage is so relevant. The one I often have to remind myself of is love does not envy. In our community, it’s a land of excess. It’s very difficult to not want what everyone else seems to have. It’s also a lesson I try hard to impart in my children, so I have to be a good example. But it’s definitely a work in progress.

  432. Love always hopes. Oh, how I want to think the best of others! Hoping for good motives, good thoughts, good attitudes.

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  433. I also posted this on FaceBook!

  434. Love never fails! Praise God… I might fail sometimes, but LOVE never does.

  435. I love the whole passage. I had a wall hanging with this verse. My brother-in- law was visiting once and really liked it so I gave it to him.

  436. Love is patient…and kind. Those can be tough sometimes, especially the first. When everything around you seems to be going so quickly, it can be very difficult sometimes to slow down yourself when circumstances are out of your control and you must wait. Even more so when you’re waiting on God.

    Love the giveaway :)

  437. Oh, the first couple of verses always makes me think. Doesn’t matter if I do all kinds of good things and make all kids of sacrifices, if I don’t have love, I’m just a bunch of noise.

  438. Posted to facebook as well, Does not anger…. looking for joy is my new focus!

  439. ‘Love keeps no record of wrongs.’ I’m positive I could do a lot better at this one.

  440. I love all of it , almost 19 years ago Feb 15. We had a few of these verses on the wall behind our wedding table! For today I’ll say,” Love always hopes. always perseveres, never fails.” …my goal!

  441. Just subscribed to you. Look forward to reading your blog. Thanks for giving us this opportunity!

  442. Love persevers. Love gives us strength and endurance we never knew we had. When it comes to my family? Love gives me the power to conquer any problems and go on.

  443. Love always perseveres.

  444. I shared this on Facebook as well!

  445. I love how He always perseveres for me, for everyone. Unending, never-tiring, always overflowing LOVE.

  446. “Love never fails”
God is love. And although I have a myopic intellectual grasp of such a concept, I can hold fast to simple words that remind me-God does not-cannot-fail. Oh what comfort and strength in the days marked by frailty.
    Thanks for the giveaway.

  447. The section where “always” precedes certain characteristics is both encouraging, when you realize how God loves us like that, and convicting, when we see how far we fall short. Excellent focus-fixer for me!

  448. Such beautiful, beautiful words…I love the part where it says that Love Always Protects, Always Trusts, Always Hopes, Always Perseveres.

ALWAYS. And the Lord ALWAYS does…

  449. I now subscribe to this blog!

  450. I now subscribe to this blog! (second extra entry)

  451. “Love is patient and kind” reminds me to love others the way God loves me.
    Beautiful post.

  452. Love always trusts….that’s the part I find hardest to live out!

  453. I find it interesting that God’s idea of love is totally different than the way the world portrays love. It is so open, so trusting, so forgiving, not jealous, selfseeking, or petty as the world would have us believe.

  454. Love never fails!

All of these books are on my amazon wish list. And I have been wanting an apron for all of my new cooking endevors!

    Thanks for the giveaway.

  455. Love never fails. I remind myself of that so often. Do it all in love. It never fails.

  456. We can’t separate them, can we? Because they all define “love”. The hard part… remembering it is a two-way street.

  457. Don’t you think that it’s all sort of summed up in the part that says love is not self-seeking? I mean, really, true love is always outward, isn’t it? Well, that’s my big struggle — the “me” that gets in the way of loving, of reaching outward and letting go of self.
    Thanks for this post!

  458. Love never fails – Christ loves me always but my love for others fails so often.

  459. Thanks for hosting a great giveaway! “Love never fails.” That’s my favorite. Sums up the rest and reminds me of God’s love for us. ~~Rhonda

  460. Love never fails…

  461. What gets my attention in these verses right now is… Love is patient, kind, trusts, and hopes. Some how in my mind right now those all go together and God is showing me how.

  462. How can I pick out one thing about love, when all of them are so desperately needed? The one that hits me the most lately is… keeps no record of wrong…. so wish I could erase my memory…

  463. it gets my attention that love has nothing whatsoever to do with my feelings – I am called to this ACTION of love despite my emotions

whatever the reason, love just IS

  464. Love always hopes gets me – I tend to want to give up hope, consider a “hopeless cause” but am reminded that God doesn’t. I used Google Reader to sign up for an RSS feed instead of your link. I hope that is OK.

  465. Love never fails.
Jesus is God who is our Almighty!

  466. Love always protects…protects physically, but also the reputation & overall well-being of the ones I love.

I’m a new RSS subscriber as well! :)

  467. Love keeps no record of wrongs (ouch!)

  468. Love is patient is what speaks to me most. I am striving to be more patient in my relationships.

  469. DEfinetely my favorite part is “Keeps no record of wrongs”!

  470. I’m subscribed to RE RSS feed

  471. Love is not self-seeking. Truly thinking of others before our own self. Sacrificing just as Christ did. Yes, laying down our own needs, wants, and selfish desires that is true LOVE and only Christ does this perfectly. Thankful today for that.

  472. Love is KIND.

  473. I would love to win a copy of any of these books, in particular, yours! :) I review a lot of books and these all look fabulous!

  474. Oops, I forgot to add my favorite part of the scripture. It’s ‘love rejoices with the truth’. Thanks for the chance! :)

  475. Love always trusts and love never fails! So many people don’t fully trust love and therefore give up on it too easily. Including God’s!

  476. I subscribed to your RSS feed! ;-)

  477. Keeps no record of wrong. I need to remind myself of this DAILY. Fun giveaway!
