This Pear and Cranberry Bites recipe is perfect for Thanksgiving, Christmas, or any dinner party appetizer. Pears and dried cranberries pair well together to make an elegant appetizer that’s perfect for holiday entertaining! Drizzle with honey and serve!

It’s on the lighter side, and a gluten-free app, and you can swap out the nuts for your favorite crunch!

Pear and Cranberry Bites

We served this dish back in 2017 at a dinner party where we set the table with fresh pears. The table looked gorgeous! We served these “bites” with Cornish Game Hens, these  green beans, and these potatoes. It was a comfort meal for sure.

Pear Cranberry Endive Appetizer

Why we love this recipe

  • It’s a super healthy appetizer.
  • You can use your favorite cheese (goat cheese or blue cheese or Boursin cheese)
  • Toasted nuts on top make a very nice crunch.
  • Gobbled up at every party!

Pear Cranberry Endive Appetizer

Gather these ingredients

  • Belgian endive
  • Bartlett pear, cored and diced (leave skin on)
  • Crumbled goat cheese (or regular goat cheese to spread)
  • Dried cranberries, coarsely chopped
  • Chopped toasted walnuts
  • Honey (or you can drizzle with a balsamic glaze)

How do you make an endive appetizer?

  1. Cut the base off of the head of endive and separate the spears (or gently pull off). Place on a flat surface, plate or board.
  2. Spread the goat cheese on the bottom of the endive, or if using crumpled, distribute it evenly.
  3. Sprinkle with pears, cranberries, and toasted chopped walnuts.
  4. Drizzle with honey and serve!

What fruit goes well with cranberries?

We love pears, but we’ve also paired date, grapes, and apples. Cranberries are really good dried on cheese boards, in appetizers, or even as a snack on their own.

Pear Cranberry Endive Appetizer

Tips and substitutions:

  • The endive come in purple and green, so you can use one or the other, or both!
  • I love this delicious salad made with Bartlett pears, but you can use any variety of pear.
  • Swap out the blue cheese with goat cheese, our Boursin cheese.
  • Use apples in place of pears.
  • Optional to use your favorite nuts: pecans and hazelnuts work! Make sure they are toasted because it adds a nice, nutty flavor. TIP: Buy pre-made toasted nuts at Trader Joe’s. Spicy or sweet are good, too.

How do you serve a pear endive appetizer?

The best part? Drizzle with honey!

Also optional to add a balsamic drizzle, but place all the filled endive on a large plate. Drizzle at the same time and serve.
