I never want to be in a rut. Which is why I love to travel. Doors have opened for me over the years to travel more, and I’ve had some rich experiences. On my last trip to Italy, I had an ah-ha moment, when I realized that meeting and loving “new” people is something that I really love. I know, I’m using the word “love” quite a bit, but hospitality is such a beautiful thing, that doesn’t just have to happen in your home, with your small group of friends. It’s not about location at all. Finding “home” is not in structures, but it’s in the people in our lives, at any given moment.

I wrote this down on my phone, where I love to take notes. I talked about it with a close friend. In a sense, we sometimes have only a few moments to share with others, though sometimes we might have days. But to look into the eyes of the person sitting across from you, or next to you, and ask questions about their lives, it’s in that moment that there’s no holding back. You invest. You give of yourself. You share your stories, to relate to their stories.

Finding home

Settle in to the moment, and find your “home” in the person that you are talking with.

Make them feel warm and welcome. It’s not just an extrovert thing, Friends. I know, many people say, But I’m an introvert.

Being interested in others is for everyone!

Strawberry Puff Pastry Bites

There are things that make us all come alive, and ways to give out. You may have to force yourself to talk, but just get your eyes off of yourself, and ask questions of the person you are with. Let them know you care!

It’s very unselfish to put the other person first in a conversation. Some people don’t get it. And I think they probably struggle with healthy relationships.

Being present in the moment is a gift

What I’ve learned is that we can all learn and change, at any age.

Settle into your own skin, make that moment count.

Being present in the moment is a gift that we give the other person.

Can we even take it all in? All the people God allows us to love and be loved by?

The new and the old, I really see how He reveals more of Himself to us, when we are open, and loving, and honest.

Because I’m feeling a little sappy and sweet over the many wonderful relationships in my life, I’m sharing a really fun, cute Mother’s Day (or springy) entertaining dessert today.

If I could host a giant party, I’d certainly invite all the wonderful women in my life. Probably the person who has known me the longest (besides my dad and sisters), is my Aunt Barbara, my mom’s dear sister. They were 2 years a part (mom on the left, Aunt Barb on the right), and people thought they were twins–two peas in a pod!

It would be dreamy thinking about a Mother’s Day luncheon with both of these ladies at the table. One day it will happen … :)

I try to keep these Puff Pastry cups in my freezer for last-minute desserts or appetizers. They are so easy to pop in the oven, bake for 20 minutes.

With the handle of a wooden spoon, you gently poke the holes when they are warm out of the oven.

Fill with something yummy.

My favorite? Strawberry cups full of mascarpone cheese, a dab of jam, and a berry on top.

Perfect one-bite. Pretty presentation. Loved by all.
