I just made mini sweet & sour meatballs the other day. Here's my recipe:

mini-meatballs (I make my own with lean ground beef and/or turkey, an egg, and some bread crumbs -- that's it -- and bake them in the oven till brown)

tomato ketchup
ginger ale

Mix ketchup and ginger ale in a pot. There are no measurements; just keep adding one or the other till you find a taste that you like. Add browned meatballs and let simmer for about an hour. Throw over some brown rice and serve with broccoli. They are yummy!

Having just moved into a home with a "serving bar", we love the casual feel of just putting out snacks. Most of the time there is a bowl of fruit, ripe for the picking. But when there's people over we like to have some guacamole and chips or a bowl of spiced nuts on the counter for people to pick at.

Thanks Sandy...these appetizers look delicious! I don't often think about setting out appetizers but I should as I think it would just be a fun and casual thing to do as people gather. Our gathering spot always seems to be in or near the kitchen as well and of course that is where family and friends leave their "stuff". This stuff has changed right along with the family....now it is iPhones or pods and various cords as well as the grand babie's bottles and food....this is life, not the beautiful spacious and clean kitchens that we see on tv and in magazines and blogs! Thanks for reminding us how it really is...and what a blessing!
