It’s machine washable and made of cotton! I’ll be adding more “home” pictures soon, with links to everything. In the meantime, we’re up to our eyeballs today painting kitchen cupboards and getting ready for the Big Game Day party tommorrow!

A Good Conversationalist

If you’re hosting this weekend, make sure and spark up some good conversation! Even if you are an introvert, you can extend yourself (push yourself, challenge yourself, come up with a few questions to ask the group) to get to know the people around your table more!

10 Rules of a Great Conversationalist

We started good conversation in our home when our kids were young. When their friends came for dinner, we made sure to include them in the conversation. (Our kids, 12 years ago, when Haggis was a pup!). By the way, we are really missing Haggis Barley McStitch III!

Today I’m sharing a tip we’ve learned, that focuses on friendships.

Honesty is everything around friendships and sharing meals together.

Friendship is not one-sided. It involves two people who are both giving and focusing on the other.

Open communication, no matter the cost, is the only way to achieve this. Commend when it’s deserved and confront when it’s necessary. Build up, encourage, and leave the being critical or negative to another time, when others don’t have to sit and listen to you!

Many people find that they receive the most when they are intentional with other people (it’s about them, not about you).

I think we’re better off and happier people when we gather around food and really watch our words!

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1-1/2 cups 3 sticks unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup brown sugar, lightly packed
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 Tbsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 pkg. 11 0z. classic white chips
  • 1 1/2 cups shelled roasted pistachios, roughly chopped (or whole)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place parchment paper in the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking pan and grease the sides (I like to spray the bottom and sides with cooking spray).
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  • In a large bowl, beat melted butter and sugars together until creamy, about 3-4 minutes. Mix in eggs and vanilla extract. Add flour mixture until combined. Stir in white chips and pistachios.
  • Spread dough evenly in the prepared pan. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is slightly golden.
  • Remove from oven and let cool for about 15 minutes, then transfer to cooling rack to cool completely. Remove from the pan and cut into 24 squares.
