Recipe from Coca-Cola Refreshing Recipes cookbook.
Ingredients
1-1/2poundsground beef
1Tbsp.onion powder
1Tbsp.steak sauce
1tsp.salt
1tsp.black pepper
2Tbsp.butter
1Tbsp.olive oil
8large shallots, thinly sliced
1/4cupCoca-Cola
12buns, or mini rolls, lightly toasted
Cheese of choice, optional
Instructions
Mix ground beef with onion powder, steak sauce, salt and black pepper.
Form into 12 small, even patties. Set aside.
Heat butter and oil together in medium skillet over medium heat. When butter is melted, stir in shallots.
Cook until just beginning to caramelize, then add Coca-Cola.
Increase heat to medium-high and cook liquid about 4-minutes, until liquid has almost evaporated.
Return to low heat and continue cooking until fully caramelized (watch the shallots carefully so they do not burn).
While shallots are cooking, cook burgers in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat, approximately 3-minutes on each side. Top each patty with a slice of cheese, if using cheese.
Fill each bun with a burger and a heaping pile of shallots. Serve with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles, etc.
