3apples, I use 1 Granny Smith and 2 sweeter apples, leave red skin on
2pears, leave skins on
2Tbsp.freshly squeezed lemon juice
2Tbsp.flour
1/2tsp.cinnamon
Topping:
1cuplight brown sugar
1cupsall-purpose flour
1tsp.cinnamon
1/2tsp.ginger
1/2tsp.nutmeg
1/2tsp.kosher salt
1/2cupunsalted butter, slightly melted
1/2cupsliced almonds
Vanilla ice cream or gelato
Caramel sauce, optional for drizzling
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375. Spray a 9x13 casserole dish.
Slice apples and pears (leave the skin on) right into the baking dish. Add the lemon juice to the apples and pears and gently toss to coat. Add the cinnamon and flour, and gently mix until distributed throughout the apples.
Topping:
Stir together the brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and salt with softened butter. Mix together; add the sliced almonds. Continue mixing (will be crumbly, or like cookie dough).
Sprinkle the topping over the apples.
Bake for 35 minutes until topping is golden brown. Remove from oven and allow to rest for 10 minutes. Serve with vanilla ice cream or gelato, and optional to drizzle with caramel sauce.
