TIP: Use an electric knife to cut the rolls in half horizontally! Don’t forget to line your pan with foil – they get messy! Make ahead of time and pour the sauce on right before baking.
Ingredients
1/2lb.salami slices
1/2lb.prosciutto
2cups mozzarella cheese, largely grated
1large package Hawaiian sweet dinner rolls, or 2 small
1cupDelallo Pizza Sauce
2tsp.dried basil
2Tbsp.butter
1medium sweet onion, sliced and sautéed
½cupbutter
2Tbsp.prepared mustard
1Tbsp.Worcestershire sauce
1Tbsp.poppy seeds
⅓cupbrown sugar
Instructions
Heat 2 Tbsp. butter in medium pan. Thinly slice the onion; sauté in the butter for about 5 minutes, or until clear and cooked.
Leaving the (24) rolls attached, horizontally slice the tops off; set aside. Place the bottom (attached 24 pieces) rolls in a 9×13 foil-lined baking pan. (You may need to squeeze them into the pan, or remove a row if you choose:)
Spread the pizza sauce evenly on the underside of the TOP layer of bread. (Spreading on the bottom layer of the rolls will create a sogginess:) Sprinkle with the 2 tsp. of dried basil.
Next layer the meat, cheese, and sautéed onions, on the bottom layer of rolls (in the foil-lined pan).
Place the top section of the rolls, pizza sauce side on top, back onto the roll bottoms. OR bottom halves of the rolls. It will look like a giant sandwich.
In a medium sauce pan, bring the 1/2 cup butter to a soft boil. Add mustard, Worcestershire, poppy seeds, and brown sugar.
Pour sauce over the 9×13 sandwiches right before baking.
Cover with foil and bake at 350 for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake another 10 minutes, Serve hot or cold.
