About Sandy

Expertise: I’m Sandy Coughlin, recipe developer, food writer, dinner party hostess, and co-founder of The Big Board (epic charcuterie board). I’m a cookbook author and travel expert on ReluctantEntertainer.com since 2006. Yes, I’ve been writing online for almost 20 years!

• I began contributing to Reluctant Entertainer in 2006, as a hopspitality blog, which around 2011, morphed into a full time recipe site. I create all of the recipes here on RE.
• What an exciting time to co-create the BIG BOARDS with Cyndi Kane (House of Hyacinth) and JK Adams in Vermont, in 2000 during COVID.
• I also created 2 cookbooks during the “big board era.” Big Boards for Families was endoresed by Ree Drummon (The Pioneer Woman), and “Big Boards and More” by Meagan Brown (BakerMama). My daughter was the photographer and partial recipe-creator for the cookbooks.
• I have a big following for easyt recipes, big board and entertaining ideas, outdoor activities, and travel tips.

I’m always on a mission to help my readers feel confident and comfortable in the kitchen (hello, reluctant entertainers!). Over the years, many of my simple, incredibly flavorful dishes have been featured on Better Homes & Gardens, The New York Post, Eating Well, Rachael Ray, and more!

As founder and recipe developer of Reluctant Entertainer, LLC, I’ve worked on everything from recipes, boards, photography, travel experiences–all content shared on RE’s social media channels. When I’m not developing recipes or hosting a dinner party, you’ll find me with my family, our dog, traveling the world, or enjoying beautiful central Oregon.

Oh, and I love tacos, charcuterie boards, and chocolate-anything – and also nibbling on my new grandbaby’s toes!

She is a mother to three grown children and lives in Bend, Oregon with her husband, Paul.
