30 Minute Jam: My Secret Combination!
We’re a jam family. We eat a TON of jam and I also like sharing it with others! (A great hostess gift, especially for the family who doesn’t “do” homemade!)
So when I saw the recipe for “30 minutes to Sure.Jell Jam” in this magazine, I got my kids involved in helping me as we made 4 batches.
Kids not always happy to pick the berries, but they willingly do so anyway.
Washed berries.
Adding raspberries, our family SECRET combination.
What you need:
2 cups crushed berries
4 cups sugar, measured separately
3/4 cup water
1 box Sure.Jell Fruit Pectin
ONE.
1. Make sure you have your containers clean, sterilized and ready to go.
2. Stem, wash, crush berries (I use Cuisinart)
3. Measure exactly 2 cups berries into a bowl and stir in sugar.
4. Let stand 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
TWO.
1. Mix water and pectin in a small saucepan. Bring to boil on high heat, stirring constantly.
2. Continue to boil and stir for 1 minute.
3. Add boiled mixture to the fruit mixture; stir 3 minutes, or until sugar is dissolved.
THREE.
1. Fill all containers to 1/2 inch from the top.
2. Lid and wipe down the containers; let sit on counter for 24 hours before freezing.
3. Use and store in refrigerator up to 3 weeks, or freeze up to 1 year.
4. Thaw in fridge before using.
I realized after we made 4 batches, and as our berries are still producing quite rapidly, we’ll be making more jam here soon. So what happened to the leftovers that didn’t fit into the containers that we scraped out of the bowl?
Straight into the blender that night for delicious strawberry milkshakes…
My favorite time to pick strawberries is morning or at dusk. Planting strawberries on our city lot has been one of our greatest investments for our family.
Do you make freezer jam? What’s your favorite combination?

Strawberry jam is one of our favorite. It must be great to pick them from your own yard. Never tried its combination with raspberries. Looks yummy!

A good friend gives us her frozen jam. I’ll bet this is her recipe. It’s divine. I should tell her about the raspberry addition. That would have to make it all the more delicious.
I don’t put up my own jams because I thought it was more difficult than this!
I’m not good at canning, but I think I could do this! This jam looks absolutely delicious!
Those berries are beautiful. I want a piece of toast with your jam now:)
We have some friends that have a nice strawberry patch in their garden and thanks to them, our family has been able to pick (loads of!) strawberries the past few summers. We’ve made many jars of freezer jam using Ball Simple Creations Freezer Jam Fruit Pectin. There is NO cooking involved, and you use a lot less sugar – only 1 and 1/2 cups of sugar to 4 cups of crushed berries. You mix the 3 ingredients (pectin, fruit, and sugar), pour into jars, wait 30 minutes, and then serve, refrigerate, freeze, or give away! Simple, yet delicious!
I make straight strawberry and this is the exact same recipe I use! We love it!!
we make zucchini jam every summer – and eat it all year long from the freezer…my kids (and us adults) love it!
OK, I made this with my children today! The only thing is- how long does it take to “set?” You said a “box” of Sure Jell, but the box I bought had 2 pouches in it. The recipes in the box had similar measurements as your recipe, but called for one pouch, so that’s all I used. Am I going to have jars full of strawberry syrup?
We love strawberry jam too! What kind of strawberries did you plant? We planted strawberries this year and they didn’t turn out at all….bummer! We’ll keep working on growing the strawberries! Any tips??
My favorite in mixed berry 4 cups of combination of strawberry ,blueberry, raspberry and blackberry mix with 7cups sugar let the berries juice in the sugar add 1/2 cup of lemon juice. boil till rolling boil 25 mins pack in canning jars proccess in water bath 10 mins
Wow! That looks easy enough that even I could do it! :)
Ummm. I love, love, love jam. I’ve never done freezer jam, but this looks so simple and good.
And now I’m really curious about your berries. You grow your own?? I’ve never thought of growing my own strawberries, but the thought of having plentiful berries at my beck and call sounds wonderful!
I’ve never “canned” anything so when I see that you can do this in plastic containers….WHOO HOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks!!!! XO, Pinky
I love this! So easy, I m going to have to try it!
Okay, I am definitely making this. I love the addition of raspberries in here.
Never made jam in my life, but this looks like something I could do! Love the secret ingredient, what a yummy flavor combo. Off to find some freezer containers, thanks Sandy!
Thanks for sharing such a fabulously simple recipe. The pic of your kids picking berries brought back memories of my childhood. I didn’t appreciate the job at the time but looking back now, I realize what great memories they are.
This looks great! We picked blueberries over the weekend and I was looking for a good recipe. Thanks!

Looks like we’re on the same page, Sandy! We love our freezer jam, too. It’s so easy, and it tastes SO GOOD. I’ll have to try your strawberry raspberry combo – sounds delicious!
I fear that I’d consume half of the jam before it ever made it to the fridge!
I’ve never made jam because I thought it was hard. This looks so easy and delicious!
Strawberry rhubarb, hands down. It’s about as easy as this recipe, too!
This is a wonderful and fresh sounding jam! I love its bright color!
You have some sweet helpers!
I usually make jarred jam, but this looks so good I’m going to try it when our peaches are ready.
Yummy!
