Sausage Gnocchi with Tomato Alfredo Sauce Recipe
This Sausage Gnocchi with Tomato Alfredo Sauce recipe is combined with gnocchi, sausage, fresh basil and a creamy tomato sauce!
One way I’ve been able to change up my cooking is to share it with others, not necessarily inviting them to our house for dinner, but instead I fill up containers, and I take it to them!
It’s awesome blessing someone, especially when they don’t expect it. I think of my friend and sister, both nurses, working very hard, long hours. I’ve been able to provide both of them with lunches throughout the week, because when I’m cooking (which, by the way, can get very mundane) I just make a little extra!
Using pretty, fresh ingredients, and thinking about sharing when you cook (I know, who has time to think about others?), can take the “mundane” out of what seems to be a chore, and actually brings a little JOY! I mean, cooking is already so ordinary, yet necessary, there has to be beauty we can draw from on a daily basis. So why not be creative?
Sausage Gnocchi with Tomato Alfredo Sauce
For this Sausage Gnocchi with Tomato Alfredo Sauce recipe today, it’s very simple, and only takes 30 minutes to make!
I keep vacuum-packed gnocchi stocked in my pantry. This is the perfect pantry item for last-minute meals or entertaining!
Combine the gnocchi with sausage, fresh basil and a creamy tomato sauce. Yum!
It’s not only tasty, it’s so pretty! (But seriously now, don’t you just love the comfort of gnocchi? So good!)
I made this for our family for dinner, but saved out 2 containers for “special surprise lunches.” It’s true, we love leftovers in our home, but I’ve been “intentional” setting aside extra servings.
Feeding People is Art.
Feeding people is art. However you do it (potluck cooking, hosting showers, having people in for a dinner party, feeding the kids’ friends, helping with the sports team dinner, being involved in a meals ministry), is a reflection of your personality and style and how you like to bless others.
It’s easy to see what one person is doing, and think we need to do it that way. Cooking and hospitality is like a beautiful, big canvas, with so much opportunity and creative ways to spread love to others with food!
Years ago, I started a meals ministry at a large church (well, that started out small), and once I got it going, I stepped back and changed my direction. I went from taking meals to those in need at church, to cooking more for our kids and all the activities they were involved in (teachers, sports, Balcony Girls, even slumber parties). My focus was more at home. And guess what? I did not feel guilty!
Mix it up, change it around.
You don’t have to do it all to change the world. It’s okay to change your course, and move in a different direction. Since my niche changed (3 active teenagers at home), focusing more on “my home and family” helped me realize that I needed to step away from that particular involvement.
Mix it up, change it around, and keep things fresh by feeding people.
And then you get a text like this … that makes your day!
Change the world.
I don’t know about you, but when I surprise someone with a gift, or something they’re not expecting, I’m not sure if I’m more joyful, or they are!
Changing the world starts in our own homes, with our families, and many times involving food. It can be one small jesture of love.
Feeding people is leading people – so let your creativity flow, just like you would with art.
It’s life-giving and rewarding, beautiful and sacred.
What is something you can do to feed people in a more creative way?

Sausage Gnocchi with Tomato Alfredo Sauce
Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp. olive oil
- 4 pieces 5″sausage links, or precooked sausage of your choice, cut into one-half-inch chunks (I buy Applegate’s Organic sausage)
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2-3 garlic cloves
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 can, 6 ounce tomato paste
- 1/2 cup fresh basil, chopped
- Salt & pepper
- 1 pound or more vacuum-packed imported gnocchi (I used DeLallo brand)
- 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese, plus extra for garnish
Instructions
- Heat the olive oil in large sauté pan at medium heat and sauté onion for 4 minutes. Add the sausage and cook another 4 minutes. Add the garlic and cook for 2 minutes.
- Reduce heat to low and add the cream and tomato paste. Cook, stirring well to dissolve the tomato paste. Increase the heat to medium-high and bring to a simmer. Cook until thick for about 3 minutes. Stir in 1/4 cup fresh basil. Salt and pepper to taste.
- Bring a large pot of salted water to boil; boil gnocchi for about 8 minutes until tender, or according to package directions. Drain, setting 1/2 cup of pasta water aside.
- Add the gnocchi to the sausage mixture; add the extra 1/2 cup of pasta water. Gently stir together; taste and adjust the seasoning. Garnish with 1/4 cup fresh chopped basil and freshly grated Parmesan cheese.

I just wanted to say thank you for a wonderful recipe. I made this for dinner last night, and we loved it! I had never used gnocchi before, and it is now a new favorite. Total comfort food! Thanks again!
I love your site. For such a reluctant entertainer you are quite competent. And I agree food is love and it’s time to share!
I am totally posting (I mean pinning) this…gosh I’m tired….a quick (lol) drive up to the Seattle Passport agency early this morning and i’m pooped! I could use one of those meals…anyways….I love all things gnocchi!!!! So I PINNED this to make later.
I find that I do love having people over, but one of my favorite things is bringing food to others (whether it’s kids working a fundraiser, or to my daughter when she’s at work, someone who is sick or just had a baby) or feeding a group of soccer players)..that to me is fun.
I love this simple, wonderful meal and the sentiments of giving behind it. Can’t wait to make this Sausage Gnocchi for our family. (And extra to share of course!)
I like making food to take to other people. When my mom had cancer and we were only five minutes apart I cooked and made her something daily. It is nice to be able to help in some way.
This recipe looks great. I bought some gnocchi at Trader Joe’s and I haven’t used it yet. I’ll give this a try.
I make homemade soups/stews to take to shut-ins, people who have had surgery, sick, etc. at my church. I work everyday so this quick and simple recipe would be perfect. I would love to hear more about how you started the meals ministry at your church. This is something very dear to my heart, but I work everyday and would definitely need help doing this. Can you give me any ideas, tips, etc?
