Appetizer Tips with Apple Goat Cheese Bruschetta
My friend, Jenny, thinks she’s not very good with appetizers. But I have to disagree. The girl knows how to cook good food, every single time!
Sometimes when you’re in a rut, take the ingredients that you already have in your kitchen and do a google search – see what comes up!
Jenny knew she had goat cheese, apples, and herbs in the garden. Mix it all together for a quick and easy bruschetta; on your way to the dinner party, stop by the store and pick up fresh bread.
As a hostess, I’m always happy to toast the bread, or do whatever needs to be done to help prepare what my guests bring.
I really believe in the power of delegation. It “takes a village” to create an awesome dinner party, especially with the economy, people’s time, and commitments these days. Sometimes people don’t always have the time to bring a dish “ready to serve.”
Appetizer Tips
1. Write down key ingredients you have on hand that you want to use (try to use up a jarred sauce that is already open).
2. The more unique, the easier to find on the internet.
3. Set aside 5-10 minutes to find a recipe that works for you.
4. Google and find apps to add to your phone.
5. Don’t forget to use fresh herbs from the garden. Herbs always add the “punch” that your recipe needs.
6. Don’t waste time and run to the store, when it’s something you can quickly stop and buy on your way to the event (like the bread).
Enjoy this super easy recipe today!
Oh, and by the way, here’s the “fresh basil” growing in our herb bed. It’s still small, needs sunshine, but I love the purple basil for cooking and for garnishing!
Grow, basil, grow!
How do you get out of a rut when it comes to making appetizers? And what favorite herbs do you use for them?

Great combination of flavors in this app!
I’ve never been a big fan of Goat Cheese but love a good Bruschetta. I think that I might try this with the Bleu Cheese!! :)
this. looks. so. so. so. so. good!!
Love the bruschetta; some of my favorite ingredients all pulled together in one place. Very nice.
This sounds & looks yummy!!
I *love* the idea of Googling the ingredients at hand to find a recipe. That is brilliant!
I’m usually the one serving the appetizers, but on my trips back “home” I’m guilty as charged and in a rut with my Shrimp Butter Spread. It’s become a favorite of friends & family but I think it’s time to move on to new things. Great reminder, Sandy. I serve Bruschetta often, and love this version. You had me at goat cheese!
Cilantro is my favorite herb. Love it in a fresh salsa made with tomatoes, a little red onion, lime juice and chopped cilantro. Your bruschetta looks yummy!
