When You Run Low on Dessert: Dole Baked Bananas!

This night, when my son was home from college, we had a full-course meal. But one thing I didn’t think about as we were sitting around, chatting about Martin Luther King after our meal, was something very important to teenagers.

DESSERT.

With 3 teens in the house, how in the world could I forget dessert?

That said, and with a bunch of Dole bananas in my kitchen, I remembered this tasty, easy, fast banana dessert that only takes 10 minutes to bake!

Of course I tripled the recipe …

Dole Baked Bananas with Heath English Toffee Bits
2 servings

1 ripe DOLE Banana, peeled and sliced lengthwise
Lemon juice
2 tsp. honey
Ground cinnamon
2 TBSP. Heath English Toffee Bits

Line cookie sheet with foil. Preheat oven to 350.

Lightly brush banana halves with lemon juice. Place cut-sides up on the foil.

Spoon honey over banana halves and sprinkle lightly with cinnamon.

Bake for 10 minutes. Remove from oven.

Sprinkle with Heath English Toffee Bits

Serve warm! Yummy. You will have happy kids.

Do you have a fast dessert that you make using bananas?

(Dole Foods paid for my trip, last November, but they did not pay for me to write this post today! And Congrats to Barbara Collins, from Madre Minutes, who is the winner of Deliciously Organic cookbook! Thank you to all who entered the giveaway. From reading all of the comments, I’d say that many of the readers desire to move in the direction of “organic,” but the cost is holding them back …)

similar to yours, but with a bit more “adult” flavour: bananas, honey, grand marnier, sprinkled nuts :)

Yummy! It sounds good even without the Toffee Bits. Especially for those that do not drink coffee nor like it’s taste.

Yummy! I know, i noticed that too about many desiring to go organic, but the $$$ is what holds them back. It’s sad when we cannot afford those things that would actually benefit us more. There’s something wrong with the picture that companies make organic, all natural, whole foods more expensive for the average shopper to purchase.

Would this be worth trying without the Heath bits? We almost always have bananas around (and I have a desire for dessert almost every evening) but usually no Heath bars. Would chocolate chips be an ok substitute? Thanks!

I just tried this after dinner today, Courtney, and used butterscotch chips instead. It was delicious! I’m sure the chocolate chips would be scrumptious as well. Go for it! :)
