St. Patrick's Day Dinner Party

Throwing an Irish-themed party St. Patrick’s Day Dinner Party is fun for me, because not only am I married to an Irishman, I love the color green. It’s bright, springy, and it goes so well with vibrant colors.

This time I combined green with purple.

A beautiful purple Ranunculus plant, that I could eventually plant and enjoy on our front porch.

And the NEW beloved Ball jars that are now made in this beautiful green – drinking glass.

I don’t really get into the St. Paddy’s Day decorations, but if you want, you can get them at the Dollar Store or even the local grocery store. Paper napkins, streamers, green light bulbs, party lights, or even little shamrock plants for the centerpiece. I love using wheatgrass, too.

The perfect menu.

I’m not a big fan of Corned Beef and Cabbage, so I changed it up this year to this Marmalade Glazed Corned Beef recipe, and served it with potatoes and yummy aspargus (also green!)

Here are some excellent choices, if you’re looking for a non-traditional Irish meal:

Guinness Stew
or
Marmalade Glazed Corned Beef

Appetizer (check out the micro greens that look like little shamrocks!)

Esther’s Kale Salad

Beer & Rye Irish Soda Bread

White and Dark Irish Bread Pudding
or
Vegan Coconut Cream Dessert

Don’t forget the Guinness!

A few years ago (2007) my husband and I went to Dublin, Ireland to visit his family, and to see where his parents met and married. The first thing we did when we arrived was meet his cousin (for the very first time – ever!!) and enjoy a Guinness together – fresh off the tap! It was amazing!

Throwing an Irish-themed party, especially on St. Patrick’s Day, means going green, but with a pop of another fun color.

Don’t forget the drinks–water, wine, and Guinness Beer! (Instagram shot.)

And then, plant the flowers in your yard! (Yesterday in the Oregon sunshine.)
