Beautiful Designz Divine GIVEAWAY: What Does Freshening Up Mean to You?
The invitations have been sent, the menu planned, groceries in the fridge.
You spend the day cooking and preparing for the guests you’ve invited to dinner.
About an hour before they are to arrive, it’s time to wrap up the final details and get yourself ready!
(Btw, the cake recipe above is in my book. Mm-m-m, good.)
Ding-Dong.
The doorbell rings and your guests are at the front door.
Do you feel ready for company or are you frazzled and in the same clothes you’ve had on all day?
Ever want that designer look, but you don’t have a fortune to spend on expensive, designer silver jewelry?
My friend Melody Davis started her business, Designz Divine, so that women would have affordable options for dressing up their wardrobes, designer style! One piece of classic jewelry can really enhance your wardrobe. She offers a 30 Day Money Back Guarantee and a One Year No Worry Warranty on all products and a portion of all sales is donated to charity to help others in need. I love her heart. (This month, a portion of all proceeds goes to support the Salvation Army, which provides all types of humanitarian relief here in the United States.)
Melody’s biz, Designz Divine, offers high end, high quality, designer inspired sterling silver, gold and rhodium jewelry for a fraction of the cost of the real thing so you can dress like a million bucks without breaking the bank.
After receiving a beautiful bracelet which I love from Melody, and seeing the quality of her product, today I am thrilled to host a beautiful giveaway from Melody to you.
Her jewelry is affordable and would make a perfect birthday gift for a friend, or keep in mind that Christmas is right around the corner!
Remember, always feel your best when entertaining and wear what you love, so you feel not only good about your party, but about yourself, too. And the trick to accessorizing well is in finding a piece that you can wear with the majority of your wardrobe- whether dressed up or down.

What a lovely giveaway! I always try to have all the food/decor prepped with time to freshen myself up before guests come – changing clothes & accessorizing last!

Yes, I need to be freshened up before company arrives that includes showering, fixing hair and touching up make-up and finding something cute to wear.
Tweeted this…thank you :)
I tweeted the giveaway :).
Freshening up is critical to me. I want to be relaxed and refreshed when my guests arrive. If I’m running all over the place they are likely to feel uncomfortable. Freshening up for me starts with being organized and planning when I do what. I get cleaning done early and as much food prep done before guests arrive and give myself plenty of time to shower and get ready. Just before people arrive I use a tissue/beauty blotter to get any shine off my face and check my lipstick and hair.
I usually change about an hour before guests arrive, and then I take care of the last details, like making the table etc.
Oh yes, I freshen up….it would be scary other wise. =} shower, hair, makeup, something fun to wear…..then all is well.
If I don’t have time for a shower, then I just put some dry hairspray in the hair…fluff it with some dry hair volumizer, (lots of dry!?! products), touch up my makeup…at least powder, mascara and blush…..than spritz on some light cologne and a fresh outfit.
When I’m really on the ball and have everything ready an hour or so before guests come, I like to change into my planned party outfit, refresh the makeup and hair, throw on some jewelry, and sit down and have a pre-party glass of wine so I can get into the mood myself.
Yes, I like to freshen up. I just make sure I have put my jewelry on, sometimes I get busy and forget little things, like earrings or mascara, so I take a quick look in the mirror.
I like to freshen up before our guests arrive. About 1/2 hour before anyone arrives I will brush my teeth, change clothes and put my earrings on.

I do like to freshen up before company arrives. I always check me teeth (since I’ve likely been sampling the food), touch up my makeup, add jewelry, and change clothes (if I’ve been cooking in sweats!)
I like to think we have lowered the bar at our house … people know they don’t need to dress up and that they can come as they are when they come to our house. We’re casual, while still trying to show our friends a good time and make them feel welcome in our home. To that end, I always brush my teeth and hair and put on fresh lipstick right before we expect guests to arrive.
About 10 mins before guests arrive I usually run into the bathroom, freshen up, put on some dangly earrings, a spritz of body spray, change and DONE!
Lipstick is a must…I may take down the pony tail…and switch out tops. If I will be dealing with a messy dinner, a clean and cute apron is a MUST!
My dress and jewelry are simple. A mist of perfume and a smile are my final touches. I do love welcoming people into our home!
A change of clothes, powder on the nose and fresh lipstick make a world of difference! :)
Yes, I always leave time to refresh my makeup and change my clothes before our guests arrive!
And tweeted as well – user name quiltbabe
Always remembering the guests are coming to see me, not the house or the food, yes, I do freshen up. I take the last fifteen minutes before they are due to arrive to check my clothes, hair and make up, then spend just a minute or two in a favorite chair, praying for the event. Recenters me and calms me down, even if the meal just went up and flames as and soon as the guests come we are ordering pizza!
Freshening up is important to me…not to impress my guests, but to make me feel “party ready” instead of “kitchen help” :). Gives me a better attitude, and we all know that the hostess has to have a good attitude!
