I don’t want to miss out on today, do you? I feel that we get so busy, that so many of our days just pass us by! Yesterday, two of my cousins came for lunch. They’ve been a part of my life for 50+ years and I love them dearly. My house wasn’t necessarily clean, my kitchen was a mess (tax stuff everywhere), but I invited them anyway, because I really missed them and wanted to catch up. It had been way too long, and you see, if we keep waiting for the perfect moment, they may never come!

I’m turning 53 this year, and I’ve figured out (on average) I have about 10,000 days left to live. That is if I do not get sick, or something else happens, but looking at life and each day as a gift that has been handed to me, I truly want to make the most of each day!

Do small things with great love.

I think about Mother Teresa, who said, “Don’t look for big things, just do small things with great love.”

Little things don’t need to cost money. Or they can cost very little money. And those are the things that usually bring us so much joy!

It could be things like getting involved in a charity, holding someone’s hand, taking the scenic route with a loved one, a phone “coffee date” with a good friend, staying a few minutes longer to listen to a person who needs you, giving someone a hug, being generous with your time or talents, taking a walk with a friend, asking your spouse what you can do for them on that day, giving a heart-felt compliment.

Let it change you …

Last week, a precious gift was given to me, but I almost missed out, because I was too busy. I visited a very special person in my life who’s recovering from a serious illness. We didn’t think she was going to make it a few months back, but she did. It brought me so much joy, but I also saw in her eyes how blessed she was that I came to her. We spent two hours together, and friends … it changed me.

It really reminded me how “just 2 hours” is really not that small.

The little things in life aren’t really that little.

Making someone’s day, bringing encouragement with you, a smile, a hug, and lots of laughter.

The Gift of Friendship

How can you measure a gift like this?

I’m not talking about the gift that I brought to my friend, by the way. I am talking about the gift that she gave to me.

I’ve been holding on to those moments all week long, and I’m not going to let them go. (If you didn’t read my post yesterday on this new book that is coming out this month, check it out, here.)

  1. What a festive plate! I love Greek anything.

See, this blog is what I’m talking about. You’re open to experiences that change you… it’s the little things that make big impressions. Inspired to drink in all the moments… even those in traffic because everyday you’re not just sitting among cars, you’re sitting among some you will spend eternity with.

  2. Sandy, I love this salad, but I love your words and love even more. 10,000 days left to live? That totally opened my eyes. You never cease to inspire me friend.

  3. YUm! So good. That looks so good. And thank you for always asking questions that make us think a bit. I don’t always answer them because I don’t always know an answer..lol…I haven’t really thought about it. :)
