What cheeese is Laughing Cow made from?

Laughing Cow cheese is actually a secret recipe, but we do know it includes skimmed milk and a variety of cheeses (Cheddar, Gouda, Edam, Comté). It’s melted together (sort of like the texture of Velveeta cheese) and blended like a cheese fondue.

Why I love this recipe

  • It’s a festive appetizer to bring to a party.
  • Every bite is creamy, sweet & savory delicious!
  • You can mix it up and add jam, a variety of nuts and herbs!
  • So cute served on the 26-inch big board.

How do you make Laughing Cow Christmas Trees?

  1. Unwrap Laughing Cow cheese wedges and set on a plate while you break the pretzel rods in half.
  2. Next, carefully push the pretzel into the flat/bottom part of the triangle to make a tree trunk. Do it gently, and it’s okay if the cheese splits a bit, it should stay together (because it’s so soft).
  3. Place the trees on a big board, in the shape of a Christmas tree, starting at the top with one, and ending with 7 or 8 in a row.
  4. Next, drizzle the honey over the cheese (so the next ingredients will stick to it).
  5. Sprinkle the dried cranberries and the chopped pistachios over the honey.
  6. Serve immediately. [They are soft, which is why you want to serve right away.]

Only 5 ingredients – so easy!

Consider this board of 32 to feed around 12-16 guests. Or, think of this when you are making a cheese appetizer.

5-ounces of cheese will serve around 5 guests. If you allow 1 ounce per person, you will be safe to have enough appetizers for Christmas.

Tips and substitutions:

  • Once the Laughing Cow cheese is opened, you need to use it right away.
  • Instead of laughing cow cheese, you can use brie triangles.
  • You have to serve right away, especially once you commit to adding the honey and other ingredients. Otherwise they will get soft and soggy.
  • Do not freeze, because this type of soft cheese will change texture, once defrosted.
  • Be gentle in pressing the pretzel into the base.
  • Other options is to add raspberry jam to each one, with pistachios and a balsamic glaze.

These cheese trees are a perfect addition to any holiday charcuterie board! A simple way to entertain for Christmas!

Enjoy!
