DeLallo’s SaladSavors Pear, Cheese, and Almonds with Maple Balsamic Vinaigrette
This delicious Maple Balsamic Vinaigrette pairs well DeLallo’s SaladSavors pears, cheese, and almonds, for a festive fall dinner party salad!
My husband and I recently went on a quick getaway up to the Klamath Lake area, to enjoy our friends’ cabin. I just love mountain air, coffee, and food. It’s always tastes so good after hiking, taking walks and exploring, canoeing, and just relaxing—watching the ducks, pelicans, eagles, and ospreys.
Harriman Springs Resort.
We walked down to Harriman Springs Resort and talked with the owners, very excited for this new “secret” place in Oregon to open! I’m hoping to share more later, but for now, here are a few beauty shots of nature in that area.
Teddy Roosevelt and family spent time here as Harriman’s guests, although it’s unclear for how long and under what pretense, and other special guests included John Muir, the renowned naturalist who wrote several books on nature and conservation. Harriman and Muir developed a friendship in 1899 (the year my grandmother was born!) when he accompanied Harriman and other scientists on an exploratory voyage in Alaska. You can read more on this cabin, here.
Seriously, this is a special spot in Oregon that I think eventually is going to get a lot of attention. Hopefully I’ll be able to share more down the road.
Even when we’re camping or at a cabin, I plan out the menu and think about how I can simplify our cooking. Who wants to cook a lot when you’re on vacation? Even a one-night vacation.
DeLallo SaladSavors.
One food item I grabbed, while packing my groceries the morning of, was a box of DeLallo SaladSavors Salad Topping. This time, knowing that it’s pear season, I was excited to try their bold gorgonzola cheese, and dried pears with toasted almonds.
All you need is fresh lettuce.
These toppings.
Maple Balsamic Vinaigrette.
And a delicious salad dressing.
I whipped up one of our favorite “fall” dressings, a Maple Balsamic Vinaigrette, that I thought would pair nicely with the dried pears.
For dinner I made salmon, this Pumpkin Pasta recipe, and this delicious salad.
And don’t forget the yummy roasted pear crostini appetizer.
I’m trying this appetizer on a group of lady friends coming for dinner tonight. It’s so easy and tasty – I love the taste of Fall!
If you’re away for a night or two, and doing the cooking, do you make salad fresh, or do you tend to buy a “convenience” pack of lettuce or mix?
