Happy Valentine’s Day friends!

Shouldn’t we live every day as if it were Valentine’s Day?

It’s fun having *the day* to celebrate, but I’d rather be treated with love every day. I’m thankful for God and my husband who shows me “that kind of love,” but also for my kids, family, new friends, old friends, and neighbors who surround me with love.

To me, Valentine’s Day is not about a dinner date (a one-time event just because Hallmark says so), or getting a hunk of silver or gold as a gift (for sure doesn’t bring me happiness), but it’s a day that reminds me to love more. And better.

Today I get to announce the winners of this amazing giveaway where I personally read through the 500 comments. I was touched, challenged, and so thankful for the honesty regarding what love is to so many of you.

Here are a few of your comments on love …

Love always protects. Convicts me of how I should speak.

Love *is* – Not was.

Love delights in the truth! But I change my mind depending on my mood.

Love keeps no record of wrongs. Just so powerful…because usually we remember things people did wrong, even when we say we’ve forgiven them or we’ve chosen not to confront them.

Without Love, I am (at best) a clanging cymbal!

“Love is not easily angered…” I guess love is the answer, even to my irritability.

Love never fails – wow, an incredible promise!

Love protects in obvious ways, but I think it also protects with words. The way we talk about others, build others up (especially our parents, husbands, kids), encourage them. Not that we have to pretend everyone is perfect, but being aware that we are protecting others’ integrity with what we say about them.

Love always hopes. When all seems like life is sweeping out of control, love hopes.

Love always perseveres, even when I drift away, He still loves me…even when I am ugly, He still loves me…

The part that says love is not self-seeking – that’s my big struggle – the “me” gets in the way of loving, of reaching outward and letting go of self.

Love has nothing whatsoever to do with my feelings – I am called to this ACTION of love despite my emotions.

Love is patient. I am striving to be more patient in my relationships.

Love does not envy. In our community, it’s a land of excess. It’s very difficult to not want what everyone else seems to have.

Keeps no record of wrongs. I have an accountant mind…having trouble erasing those wrongs.

Love is not rude. I am many times rude – even in speaking the truth – and it hurts people.

Beautiful lyrics … I {heart} Alison! :)
