7 Tips to a Delicious Crudités Platter
This is not your usual mama’s veggie platter. My mom’s generation would make the standard vegetable plate with carrots, olives, celery, and maybe Ranch dressing. Today’s platter is much more beautiful, fresh, with many flavors, and maybe 1 dip (and a little meat).
Crudités definition
Crudités are raw vegetables which can be cut into small pieces, sticks, or thinly sliced. They are usually served with some sort of dip. I love serving a fresh platter for company, because not ony is it healthy, there’s something for everyone!
How do you pronounce Crudités
But let’s get it straight: How exactly do you pronounce this word, “crudités?”
Like this: “krew/dee/tay”
Since my living room was spotless (for a moment), with a newly inspired happy space, I decided to invite a few friends over for dinner a few weeks ago, and whipped up a beautiful Crudités Platter, with some pita chips and baguettes on the side.
Crudites can sometimes be rather boring, with carrots, celery, olives and dip, so it only takes a tiny bit of creativity to make the platter sparkle with liveliness and color!
The perfect appetizer, and also delicious to make for springtime entertaining! ENJOY!
Tips to a Crudités Platter
1. Use what is in season, and look for vibrant, rich colors!
2. Mix in meat and cheese. Serve baguette or pita chips on the side (optional).
3. Include at least 4 types of vegetables (pickled is always good, too!)
4. Include a dip.
5. If a green vegetable, such as asparagus or snap peas, or string beans, blanch the veggies first to bring out the color.
6. Separate heads of small crisp lettuces, such as endive or radicchio.
7. Cut the vegetables within 2 hours of party time to keep them fresh!

Crudités Platter
Blanch the green vegetables in boiling water for about 1 minute; shock in ice bath to stop cooking and set a vibrant color. Leave some veggies whole, slice some in half (peppers, snap peas, radishes).
On a large tray (I bought at World Market), place a bowl of dip off to the side. Layer leaves of radicchio around the platter. Start filling in the spaces with each vegetable. BUY your own charcuterie boards today!
Wrap the mozzarella sticks with a hard meat, such as salami or prosciutto.
Arrange by different colors to make the platter as beautiful as you can!

I might impress my peers when I presented to the word Crudites to them. I love how the vibrance of the produce colors have been preserved. But first, I’ll try what I have at home with my thousand islands dressing and some avocado dip.
Look yummy! One of my favorite Crudités Platter, nice to see your guide, easy to follow, will cook this for family this weekend. Thanks you!
What a great recipe! For a meat eater, vegan dishes are often consumed in the family. I’m looking to use both eggplants and some of the leftover lentils to avoid wasting them and this fits the bill perfectly! It’s very good.
Impressed with the bright colors. It kind of makes crudites irresistible, and I practically salivated while reading this piece so thumbs up. I am not so sure if I have the patience to arrange this to the most minute detail but I would most definitely love to have a plate.
Lovely meal for a hot summer night of which we are getting plenty at the present time. Crunch, crunch on those fresh vegetables. Yum.
These look so fun! And so tasty.
Beautiful presentation! And a great comprehensive list of veggies. Thanks!
I made this for dinner tonight. SO GOOD!! Everyone loved it.
Beautiful presentation! And a great comprehensive list of veggies. Thanks!
I do not have grape tomatoes. Can you replace it with another tomato? I really like this recipe anyway. Thank you very much for sharing this recipe
Yes, you can add whatever tomatoes you want.
I love this platter for the holiday season!
Thanks for the great ideas for something other then the usual carrots, celery, and tomatoes. I’m interested in keeping a crudite’ plate available for snacking in my fridge. Is there a way to keep the entire plate fresh for a week of daily snacking? Some vegetables tend to dry out without water.
I really haven’t found a way, after about 2 days (except for just covering it). :(
Keep them in a covered container — I use a glass container with a snap-on lid and I keep it high in the refrigerator so it’s visible when you open the refrigerator door.
Excellent yummies for a party!!
Absolutely love your creative idea with mozzarella sticks with a hard meat, сan I post it on my blog? Thanks for sharing!
Such great tips. I love it! Now I do not feel so intimidated!
Nice platter you’ve got, so colourful.
Pls a recipe for crudites dip?
I did a crudites platter yesterday for a birthday party, although yours looks so much prettier than mine! This was last minute so it was simple with sliced red peppers, celery, carrots and cucumbers. For dip I went with ranch and dill. I love the idea of including other stuff on the platter including meats and pickled veggies.
wow.. a wonderful platter thanks for share this ^^
thanks 4 the tips.. :)
It appears I knew zip about crudités. I am loving the idea. What a wonderful appetizer platter. I had to pin it. I don’t want to forget it.
Presentation is great and I love the colors.
I don’t normally talk about ME, but please make note of the slight name change from Wild Goose Tea. New web design—-whoopee.
Will be adding some new features along the way too.
Gorgeous! As much as I love to cook, crudites, antipasti and cheese platter are my favorites since they are so pretty! I recently discovered Trader Joe’s jarred sweet and spicy peppers stuffed with honey goat cheese. My new favorite addition to a platter!
Beautiful presentation! Do you have any tips on where to purchase vegetables baby carrots, etc) with stems on?
Such great tips! Thanks!
This platter is beautiful and healthy! I love the idea you have of leaving on the stems of the carrots, radishes, etc. bright, colorful and just lovely!
